Lower control arm removal bug?
I took on my first control arm replacement job. I would do it by knowledge instead of using the manual to see how true to life this sim is. I removed the lower Ball Joint crown nutt, and the two bolts on the inside of the control arm, and the bolt that fastens the bottom of the strut tower to the control arm. In theory that control arm should of been able to slide off. Instead I had to remove the tie-rod end, steering knuckle, upper control arm, and strut tower before I could remove the lower control arm. I'm not sure if that's a design flaw, or an issue.

That aside, so far i'm having a blast.
Being able to customize the layout of the garage is great. The selection of tools so far is good, took me an hour before I realized the ratchets are battery powered. My shoulder was starting to get smoked trying to wrench off lug nutts, then I accidentally pressed the trigger on my Quest 2 controller and that little ♥♥♥♥♥♥ spun. Haha.

Edit: Also having a little bit of difficulty with the engine stand. Not seeing a bracket on the stand to attach to where the bell housing mounts to.

As I understand it, it's all down to the parent-child relationship of the parts due to limitations in the way it can be coded.
There's a couple of little issues like that but unfortunately we just have to suck it up. Once you know which parts are affected you kinda learn to overlook it and deal with it somewhat, even if it is a bit of a bind at times.
The devs do know about these things and they do try to correct them (or at least limit the impact they have on game play) where possible, but in some cases they have their hands tied a little by the limitations of the game engine.

As for the engine stand - it's all a little crude right now and some of these things are just temporary models until they can put better ones in. There isn't a 'bracket' to mount the engine on currently. It just kinda sits there.
Once the gearbox is removed you can click on the engine block and there should be an option in the context menu to mount the block to the stand. You didn't mention you couldn't mount it but I'll drop that in there anyway, just in case.

Just as a side note: the Steam forums are generally pretty quiet for this game nowadays. If you've got it, or don't mind getting it, I recommend Discord. That's where everyone is for this game and there's generally always someone not too far away who can offer help and advice if you get stuck. The devs (only two of them working on this game, believe it or not?!) are also usually fairly active on there and will try to reply when they can if no one else can help you out. Usually though there's a ton of people who have lots of experience in the game who will beat the devs to it! ;D

Anyway, hope the above helps, and happy spannerin'!

Right on Steph, thanks for the indepth reply. I can understand the coding limitations. As for the engine lift, I was able to figure that out. In VR it's a button on the controller while looking at the 'block'.

I'll check out the discord channel, thanks again :D

You're more than welcome.

Guess I'll see you on the dark side then! ;D
