Torque Problem
Hi guys, I'm not a mechanic so maybe I'm doing something wrong.
It seems I always fail to get the correct torque. Does NM20 not mean 20? Also whenever it says torque to # and I do, it says I've incorrectly torqued the screws.... am I supposed to like pull or push on a screw or bolt to finish it?

cause it seems whenever I continue to push, it pops off.

I, as well as a friend of mine, also always get docked points for incorrect torque. I don't get it. I set the wrench to the specified torque, but it still says the torque is wrong when I submit the job.

If you are having trouble, play the intro tutorial about using tools.

The electric nut runner does not apply any torque, it simply seats the fastener. Bolts must by torqued by hand. In desktop mode there are two wrenching input modes, one of them will perform the rundown and then turn the wrench to apply torque in one click (click to cancel). The other mode allows you to manually operate the nut runner and manually swing the wrench to apply torque (similar to how VR behaves).

If VR or desktop manual wrenching mode, apply torque to the fastener until the wrench clicks and skips forward. You have a pretty big window in which you can catch the wrench before it begins to apply additional torque but it is possible to over torque a fastener if you aren't using some amount of care.

Not sure if that's realistic or not dev but how about making it a bit easier to do... I'm not sure how many revolutions is too much... is there a guide for torque? I did the tutorial but on the tutorial screen it shows you how much you are torquing the nut... I couldn't find that read out in the regular game. Is there a rule of thumb for gauging torque?

Thank you for the explanation! I appreciate your attentiveness.

It would be great to have an automatic mode in VR, too. I appreciate the realism, but the nice thing about computers is that you can avoid some of the tedium of the real world (another example: waiting for the oil to drain).

I just checked the game guide, and the torque wrench instructions are missing (placeholder image/text).

After attempting manual ratcheting with the correct torque setting, I am still getting incorrect torque results.

Play the introduction tutorial for wrenches. It provides real time feedback on the torque at the bolts so you can understand how it works.

Yeah I also did that dev, is there any way you could add that feature to the wrench? Maybe you could dock a little performance % from the player for using it but it would help alot.

Ah ok, so what you have to do is torque/turn the wrench after you've screwed it in... I was turning it the incorrect way and just doing dozens of revolutions. If you turn it the other way you get quite a bit of resistance and then it 'clicks' and gets easier, at that point you are supposed to stop.

You might want to add this to the manual somewhere, I've never touched a wrench in my life so this isn't something that would be common sense for me.
