Beta - using gantry crane?
So I've taken a job to service the clutch and want to do it on the engine stand so I've removed the exhaust V clamp and I've removed both lower engine mount nuts.

The service manual says to use the gantry crane to remove the engine - I have the crane in pace and I can grab the individual hooks but can't find anywhere they want to attach to the engine, how do I attach the hooks please?

The hooks can be attached anywhere.

To use to crane attach the hooks, then uninstall the engine, and then use the crane controls and hook tension adjustment to get it out.

Also if you want to put the engine onto the stand, you just use the context menu on the engine and send it to the nearest stand.

Thanks for the info, when you say they can attach anywhere - I grab a hook, pull it down to the engine until it's in contact but there is no interaction (nothing turns green, nothing clicks into place) and if I left click again it just releases and goes back to the top?

With the hook in my hand what is the correct action to make it attach please?

Edit: Ah, it's OK, I got it, I was grabbing a hook and holding down left click to pull it. Single click to grab hook, another click to attach :)

were you able to pull the engine out ?
the crane just starts to freak out when i want to pull the engine. I loosened the engine mount bolts and disconneted everything external

okay i just grabbed it by hand and moved it a bit and then the crane wanted to work
weird

Nah I never got the crane working properly, I didn't need to use it for the job I had so in the end I did it without using it.

That is the correct method. You need to loosen the block by hand before putting much tension on the cables, otherwise they will start to freak out.

Good to hear that you got it figured out in the end.

So, I had to "attach" the hooks on 4 corners of the valve cover, the hooks will appear green when they're in place. Then you need to grab the block and break it loose, then the crane can pull it.

Is crane working only on beta? Can't move block by any way and can't remove transmission even when all 10 bolts and Drive Shaft removed, oil drained.

@ru551 did you remove the two engine mount nuts from under the subframe that secure the block?

@Dcime Right now the crane freaks out when you apply tension to something that can't be moved. The block, when installed, is attached to the chassis which isn't a physics object. If you try and pull on it, the physics freaks out. Eventually we will rework this behavior to make it do something more logical that doesn't look so derpy.

Yes, removed these two nuts. Now changed on beta and still can't lift engine.
Also transmission on all my cars looks damaged near the drive shaft and in place of gear lever.

You need to remove the driveshaft, PPF, upper and lower coolant hoses, and the clamp between the flex pipe and exhaust manifold/turbo downpipe.

Thank you, working now. In-game manual said that you need remove transmission for stand. I thought I can raise engine a little without removing transmission, but without bolts in it.
