Just a review from a random player
DI2 was such a surprise hit for me. I never played the originals. I even tested the game at a gaming convention, and found it fun but passable.

Anywho, I got it when it first launched and the only complaint I have is that I want more.

What appears on the surface as a fun (slightly silly) action based zombie slasher manages to produce a story that is compelling and even cosmic.

The combat, for one, is far more cusromizable than I’d imagine based on any footage viewing. Between skill cards, each slayer’s 2 inherent traits, and weapon choices, you can truly build each slayer to lean into their inborn strengths or to make up for the weaknesses. There doesn’t feel like a wrong way to play, just a different way.

For me what sticks out the most and that I want more of but will never get, is the story. I was first hooked when *spoilers* Konrad first tells the player that they are numen, stating that there is “huge cosmic ♥♥♥♥ coming down the line.” Before kicking you out.

Haus and sola followed up on this giving us more info but still not satisfying end.

As an action game, I’ve made my peace with the fact that the numen/.autophage story will likely never be “concluded”. It seems Mostly to exist only to keep
Driving the game forward and having more purpose than “kill this because the quest says so”.

But man that doesn’t stop me from wanting more. Beating haus and sola just makes me want more content. But in the end to want more after beating it probably means it’s a good game.

My only other “complaint” is the lack of difficulty options. Yes I’ve done NG+ with masochist. But I’d love difficulties that made you really think about your build and come up with impeccable strategies to win. As it stands, I can pretty much roast anything, which is fine for normal and medium playthroughs. But I still want an “unbeatable” style difficulty

Couldn't agree more. This game is highly underrated. So much so that me and friends kinda stumbled upon it by accident. We run through coop games like a pack of locusts so we are always out looking. I stumbled upon this on sale, and recommended it the group. and I'm sure glad we found it.

We are currently working through all the secondary content, trying to finish every side quest, challenge, and achievement. Trying to find every skill card and blueprint.

Then we still have Neighborhood watch and then NG+ , but I agree it is sad, knowing the end is right around the corner.
First games were better IMO, in terms of story, and length. Plus they were actually open world. DI2 is a decent game taken on its own, but in my opinion its kinda disappointing and feels like a step backwards if you compare it to its predecessors
The feel of Person hood is still very much alive in this game ..
(even better)
as a player of both game DI & DI2

i miss the Skull puzzles ..
i miss driving too ..

However ..
The game play (plus writing with voice overs) and mechanics (skill cards) of Dead Island 2 makes up for what i was missing in DI ..
(story plot is sound)

~that's what my house was missing a 'Regaler'
LOL
:DI2Resurrection:
and yes i'm still playing since it came out ..

The improved version of Dead Island is Dying Light.

It's like going back to a Model-T Ford and trying to make improvements on it when we already have better cars.

Haha, hey to each his own
Dead island 2 wasn't what Dead island 1 wanted...
It was so much /more/ than what we wanted, and we love every ouce of it.

So many of us were scared and worried that this would be another washed up sequel, but the development team and everyone who helped create this game didn't just Ace it, but knocked it out of the park. I hope this game stains their record and lets anyone in their future knows what talented people they are. they deserve a free coffee on the house

dying light was a fairly good game, but not as good as DI2, at least in my opinion.

DL was way too grindy, the weapons upgrade system was pretty bad, and that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lock pick mini game got old after the 5th time.

I did one play-through of Dying Light.
Dead Island 2...5 playthroughs on regular, and 4 on New Game +
I haven’t played dying light but my viewers always suggest it since I like dead island 2 so much.
