I f****** hate the characters and the voice actors in this game.

I want to already write a review, but I haven't finished the game, not even with one character and I feel like until I have at least done that? I cannot write a review.

but I can certainly write this.

I have 30.3 hours in this game, I have now gotten two legendary weapons, and I'm at level 25 and I am playing as Amy, this is the set piece.

I hate, I would say? every! single! NPC!!! that I have seen? or interacted with, I hate the voice acting of all NPCs! or even random dialogue I can hear in the game, through for example recordings, I don't know how to describe this?

the way characters speak? and the characters ""personality"" and the tone they are speaking, is unappealing, it is trying to be ""Modern"" but it's too late, basically...

but also at the same time? many of the characters I feel are on purpose! unlikable, like??? you're not supposed to care or like like any of the characters??? or if you suppose too? the people who made the characters don't know how to be likeable, because they are probably a very unlikable individual in real life.

I am a extrovert, I love talking to people, especially very unique individuals and to say this extremely lightly... many of these individuals I would refuse to interact with in real life and if they try to push it? I would beat them up.

I have only played as Amy and I actually kind of enjoy her voice because I recognize it from other places, but she is beyond! annoying, especially with how she interacts with some ""influencer girl"" that multiple times have tried to get me killed now and I f****** want to kill This b****! why the f*** am I helping her???? why am I not killing her??? why is Amy seemingly friends with this ""creature"" that should be killed?!

anyway it's because of this character and others like it just a little less bad that I f****** hate the NPCs and the characters and the story in this game.

I love the gameplay, I love the weapons, I love the visual Style, I love so much about this game, I f****** hate the characters, I want to kill all of them, so I'm now playing with complete mute dialogue and also skipping any dialogue and cutscene.

I'm not projecting? because I refuse to believe anyone can like for example the way the characters speak, they speak like teens??? I would say from from who 2016 to 2018? hmmm

but they are all f****** adults!? some of which are clearly in their 30s and it doesn't help, they are doing this when it's a f****** zombie apocalypse!

let me give a example that is not here because I didn't care about the guy, but one of the guys who survived the plane crash and was Bleeding Out of his ears? later on want you to go on a mission to a house with guns and he dies a absolutely stupid way...

by standing in front of glass and taunting a zombie, which then turns out to be screamer, literally why should I care about the guy? he's a f****** ♥♥♥♥♥♥! who died due to being stupid and there's many cases like this.

then actor woman thinks she's super ""important"" and deserve private rescue parties just for her and I can keep going....

and this is just the Beginning cast it does not get better over time or if it does it's too late because at that point I skipped every interaction with anyone.

the only character so far now 30 hours into the game that I liked was a guy in the sewers who was a military veteran who lived there because he was heavily deformed in the face due to being hit by an explosion.

if that's the one character that is likable? then your game has failed as a story and character narrative

play Fallout New Vegas and interact with some characters especially the Companions and get back to me, if you writing can't even compare like not even 1% compare to a game 10+ years ago? with limited voice acting??? you f****** failed

I'm kinda curious of your thoughts on npc's in the original dead island and riptide, as characters in those are quite different in terms of writing.

It's true, and it was intentional. And I HATE how much of a trend this is in gaming. Making deliberately unlikable and obnoxious characters for the sake of parody isn't fun or enjoyable. It's still unlikable and obnoxious. GTA, Dead Island, Borderlands, the list goes on.

youre sincerely just mentally pathetic, and its more about your reaction than preferences. YOU SUCK AT REACTING and acting like an adult, yet you want to criticize the characters. talk about IRONIC.

yup deeply emotional outbursts. its funny youre so self righteously triggered over comedy. what a pathetic reaction to comedy truly. having a brain/ego that reacts so aversely to comedic elements meant to satirizes and be absurd proves youre just psychological weakling that crumbles emotionally at the slightest psychological challenges. be softer and more weak. HAHAHAHA.

The characters feel alive at least! Every situation, or locations or weapon found, unexpected event does trigger an adapted dialogue line.
This is incredibly immersive. I don't understand how you cannot like this ? Every character has it's charm.
Plus, the game is supposed to be a "goofy version" of any serious zombie game.
Do you prefer mute characters ?
