I think DI1 feels like a bunch of ideas drawn out of a hat. The story, setting, characters, writing... it all felt like a mish mash of ideas. I wasn't sure if im meant to take ANY of it seriously. I found the combat to be dull and slow, and not very satisfying. The modded weapons somewhat made things interesting, but not for long. The map is fine, driving was absolutely dreadful. I could barely see anything with the bloom, lighting, and limited view between the windshield + camera bob.
DI2 story is... ehh. It's full of tropes, but it definitely stuck around in my head longer than the first, and i found it at least more interesting. By comparison, YOU KNOW the sequels characters aren't meant to be serious. Annoying? Pending who you are and who you pick. I picked Dani, who i found alright to listen to. But the amount of "fecks" and "♥♥♥♥♥" beats me into submission, i just laugh out of insanity at her now. DI2 is objectively better with combat. It's modern, it feels good, the melee especially has weight and oomph, and the gore system gives a really good feedback. Guns are okay, but the nailgun was the only thing that really stood out. I also found the locations alot better, but the game runs out of steam with decent level design by the halfway point. The missions also share alot in common with the first, which i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate. I feel like BOTH games have me doing the same quests over and over and over and over.. i do like the card system. In a weird way, i kind of prefer this over the skill tree system.
Anyway, just my opinion. It's kind of hard to say what game to recommend. I want my game to be fun and tight, so i prefer the second. But i suppose if you want a more serious tone with writing and stories, and dont mind a little aged combat and movement system, the first is okay.
Left 4 Dead is a much older game, but that said, it's a much smoother and less buggier game than Dead Island. That said, I liked Dead Island more, it's more of my game with an open world and lots of looting and a pretty awesome experience taking you through a variety of environments. One of my favorite games ever, honestly.
As for this game, feels too modern with all the "memes" in it
No more who do you voodoo 😩
I miss old Sam B quite a lot actually.
Il never forget the death stare he gave me as i crashed the car in an empty road. Good times
