Crossplay still doesn't work for me

I know I can easily deactivate epic, but I do not want to. I have a friend I really wanna play with. I have even installed Epic, deleted the old EOS and installed the latest, yet I still can't use crossplay. It took my game a little over an hour trying to connect to epic and then after said hour it told me it couldn't connect.

Is an actual fix or am I just doomed?

I had the same problem, I play via Epic, a friend here via Steam. It is important that both have to link their Epic account to Steam. Then both have to have the Epic Launcher and the Steam Client open. Supposedly the Steam friends should then appear in the Epic list, but that didn't work for me. From step 6 onwards it didn't work for me. BUT, we were able to play together. The person who plays via Steam invites the other to the game via the friends list, or via the "Session" option in the game. Didn't work for us. I finally caved and purchased my friend the game + Season pass. We have already beat the main campaign. Right now we are tracking down all legendary weapons from the main game and then doing the rest of the main game stuff, before jumping to the DLCs
