Remove Denuvo already
Please remove Denuvo already. This game is several years old and no longer an Epic exclusive. I've really been looking forward to this game as I've played the first Dead Island a lot with my friends, but noone in my group of friends, including me, will buy games with Denuvo.
I don't care about discounts and would be fine paying full price, but remove this Denuvo crap!

To each his own, but i have a number of games with use denuvo, and 0 issues, ever.

Denuvo will go away, eventually, when game sales drop off to where it is no longer worth while and becomes a loss expense rather than a benefit.
(remember denuvo costs money to continue using)

You dont want denuvo?
Then make people stop pirating?
Denuvo would not be needed if people didnt rampantly steal.
It is a consumer created problem

Developers should also remove the requirement for Epic Games account while they're at it. I don't have any particular dislike of Epic Games, but I can do without being forced to sign up to yet another online service for no good reason.

People pirate more because of denuvo lol. What are you even talking about. You will always have people doing this no matter what, the question is which option will people push more to pirate and denuvo isnt that one that will prevent people more to pirate.

By the way, you are on a platform where the “boss” Gabe Newell himself said “piracy isn't a money issue - but a service issue”

Why does it even still have Denuvo? It was cracked over a year ago...

Thats the real question.

It is NOT a requirement.
Unless you want to play online, you are not required to sign up at all.
Game will simply default to offline mode.
Lots of people here have the game, dont play online and didnt sign up for epic.

Yea, that would be a no, because it makes it a lot harder to do.
That's like saying people break into your house more because you have a steel door and double deadbolts.

Now if you said it made a certain pretend girl who isnt a girl have better tantrums
i would agree
Most Denuvo games remain uncracked.
And actually, if you cant crack a game by day 2 or 3 of release, you failed really.

And i dont care what Gabe says.
Gabe doesnt own or create every game, he doesnt write the paychecks.
He doesnt own or create Dead Island, so his thoughts have less than no meaning.
If it aint a valve game, he literally does not count.

Thats the real question.

Probably because, the crack is crappy and lacking even the 1st bug fix patch
or the other updates
or expansions
Does not work online, etc
And you cant update it to any of those things.

It says on the store page

"Requires 3rd-Party Account: Epic Online Services (Supports Linking to Steam Account)"

Are you saying that the statement on the store page is incorrect / misleading?

Anybody here who didn't sign up for Epic and hasn't linked their account able to confirm?

You don't need an Epic Account to play the game.
It is only required if you want to play with your friends playing the epic version. Please check the following link for all info about this topic.

Alright, thanks to Pizza_Labs & Wiesshund for clearing that up. The statement on the store page is misleading, though.

LOL, which consumer created Denuvo, exactly? In reality, the publishers have this notion that piracy considerably affects sales, so they stop at nothing to prevent it, which is why Denuvo was created. Meanwhile, Gabe proved this notion to be totally false, no matter if you care or not. The vast majority of games on Steam don't have Denuvo, but somehow the publishers are still around. GOG is also not going out of business anytime soon.

GOG does not spend $70,000,000 dollars developing a game, which they need to them pay back before they actually make anything.
They don't spend jack squat, they don't develop anything.

Steam(Valve) developed games do have DRM
Steam.
Non Steam(Valve) developed games.
Steam has no financial debt incurred.
What the outside developer does or does not use matters not as far as Steam is concerned.

Sorry, you get 0 sympathies from me.
It's theft and a few other things.
The Pirates should be punished the the absolute max extent the law allows.
The downloaders should be punished the the absolute max extent the law allows.
If the downloaders are children, then the parents, both parents, should be punished to the absolute maximum the law allows.
And if the child is over 12 than child and parents can be punished to the maximum.

It is no different than if i go to your house and rob you.
If i walked in your house and stole something, and you just allow me to leave, then you deserve to have nothing.

Did I ever ask for any sympathies? You're the one that has a totally skewed perception of reality. GOG is owned by CDPR, you might've heard of a few small games they developed and sold on GOG. Steam has DRM, sure, never said it didn't. It's called Steamworks and it can be easily cracked, and yet, most Steam games are using it and are still in business somehow. And please, go study some philosophy, before making highly regarded arguments, like "pirating a game is the same as breaking into a house and stealing stuff". You're in no position to give sympathies to anyone, really.
