Also from the store page this old game even comes with Denuvo and EPIC Account required - thats pretty much all you have to read to know what they think about you as a consumer.

Not sure if you actually need an Epic account - some suggest you dont but the store page says something different so who knows.
Wanted to play the game aswell and was hyped until i saw that it was an Epic excuslive - to me both Epic and Companies that sell their playerbase out for some extra cash for exclusivity are a clear no-buy reason to me. I hated that concept on consoles and i will never support Epic for that reason and many other reasons.
You can watch some videos or Twitch streams, they've actually launched a major campaign to get streamers playing the game, so there's plenty of content available.
I think, like the first one and perhaps even more so, guns aren't really a big part of the game. It’s more 'hack and slash' with baseball bats and similar items, so describing it as similar to GTA isn’t very accurate.
I'm not sure about the open-world style they chose for the game whether it's like the first one or not but I believe it's more akin to Dying Light (without the parkour moves, of course), rather than GTA. I don’t know the impact of the 'online mode' and what that does to the game (maybe like the first one, with a maximum of 4 players, maybe not, I don't know), as it's not really my thing anyway.
The map is definitely set in LA.
As for killing zombies, I'm reinstalling Dead Rising right now. Good stuff! 😉

i dont think it's a 9/10, maybe for Kotaku or IGN...

The game is already well optmized at 1080p ( I'm running at 768p by my own personal choice ) even for rtx 2060 card if you have at least 16 gb of ram and the same processor listed on recommended ( using amd Ryzen 5 5600X ).
Perfomance is not dropping near 100 frames ( capped at 120 fps to not* exceed high temperature ).
But beware this game is basically like Dead Island redux. What does it mean, it have less mechanic features the original game had but the gory kill are interesting although dumb as frack. When engaging finishers, other enemies around just idle while you make your move.
Not even on Gears of War, DOOM does that. At the current cost you will only get if you are out of choices for modern zombie game. ( In my perspective is a relief since Dying Light 2 reloaded edition due to a lot of negative changes ) so make your choice.
I'm still in doubt about reviewing this game ( just like DL2 but after 300 I hopefull for good changes ) what can I tell about DI 2 is basically DL original but reduced in alot of gameplay features but is very well optmized, got good graphics ( if not running HDR ), and feels like I'm playing Dead Rising in terms of crazyness ( less zombie mobs in comparison and not open world ).
Dead Island 2 is a limited non linear zombie arena in first person perspective.
I also have noticed when aiming at lower limbs to crack bones...man that used to be fun in original DI. In DI2 they don't work, you can't hear bones breaking or make zombies drown either.
