So.. Do you ACTUALLY NEED to have epic linked/epic store installed to play this online with friends ON STEAM?
I know you can play it without epic, but does the online mode work tooo if i want to play with another friend on steam?

YES, i have refunded. They didnt even make it optional.
Every launch, you see epic services being loaded even opting out.

I dunno! I can't get it to play online with ANYONE -,-

The Epic Online Services part is built into the game, so yes. It's used to crossplay with people who play with the Epic Games Store version of the game, and if you do that it requires an account there. You can play with other Steam players WITHOUT an Epic account, but the services will still load, as they're a part of the game.

Maybe because you didn't go into settings and disable crossplay, lol

Even if you play single player it will connect to Epig servers. It's always online.

What i find strange about the services being part of the game is, you can actually outright delete that stuff and still play the game just requires alot of work arounds for it, so theoretically the game would be able to function fine without it.

if you wanna play solo offline then sure it works, but for multplayer you need EOS, for crossplay with EGS players you also need EGS account and to link it to steam

I do not wanna play with someone who is using the epic games version, just the steam version. I do not care about a pop up saying "connecting to epic games". I just do not want to be forced to use the EPIC GAMES LAUNCHER. And my question is, if I don't use it (even if that means I have to log in to my epic games in-game), can I still play with someone who is on the steam version of the game?

Thank you all for your responses!
