Are you offline? Turns out it was untrue when they said EOS was only needed for crossplay; you're not allowed to play the game if you're not online.

it takes a bit but it will get past that point i just tested it even loaded my save file and it all worked offline and i mean offline i took my internet off to test

I've tried reinstalling, going offline, disconnecting from my wifi, deleting and reinstalling EOS, installing the epic launcher, i've checked the epic website to be sure my steam is in fact linked, i've waited 20minutes or so for it to check entitlements(now up to an hour "played").
starting to seem hopeless.

I've now tried disabling my firewall as well. still stuck checking entitlements

I turn off my internet to get pass the EGO screen then the entitlement screen pops up and I flip my internet back on to get get pass that screen,that is to check all your DLC I believe. That's how I got around it in order to get into the game. Radicules.

unfortunately that did not work either. it shows on the epic game website that i won this game through steam, but i cant download it or launch it through epic launcher they want me to buy it there to do that. this is so scuffed i dont even know what to say

restarted my pc. Norton (came pre installed on my new computer :{ ) apparently had been blocking it even though i deavtivated the kernal virus from its "command hub",. game works now

Also stuck on entitlements screen. Wether my internet is on or off I can't get passed it. What a shame this truly fun game has to be ruined with epics ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trash ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I'm too far into it to refund it now. ♥♥♥♥ epic. I hope they go bankrupt amd never get into gaming again.

Open the DeadIsland.ini in the Dead Island 2 folder and change NoOperation=0 to NoOperation=1

you should be planted into the correct folder if you go through desktop mode and then properties (in steam lib) installed files then press browse.

Ah yeap I found it and changed it, trying to launch the game again to see if it works!
