How do you play without downloading epic games?

Every time I launch it wont let me play and I get that stupid warning screen and it closes the game. I dont care to play online and I will not be downloading epic games.

it wont let me do anything when i launch it. All it says is "Epic Online Services could not be found, Verify install and relaunch to try again. This game will now close". I'm not installing their EOS bloatware to play this game. I shouldn't have to be connected online to play a single player game, nor should I have to install their app.

Don't you know, Epic game store was created by a bunch of sophomore tech students, it's why it took them almost 2 years to finally add a shopping cart to their store.. Pretty sure after verifying my game files it downloaded the required online files but when I tried to start the game again it crashed.. Wonder how the honchos at valve feel knowing that their direct competition is getting steam users to install their launcher to play the games they've bought from here..

I was able to bypass it by changing a game file. It's really shady though. There's no reason for you to have to go through epic to play this game
