FIXED: MASSIVE Stutters on Polling Rate HIGHER than 2000
UPDATE: Problem fixed! Related to Polling Rate higher than 2000 (4000 and higher)

Solution: Use 2000 or less Polling rate fixed the issue for me.
- using Logitech Superlight 2

-----------------------------------------------

Running High settings, framerate 150+, but when I try turning with my mouse I get massive stutters, and also microstutters when moving - FPS drops SEVERALLY when turning.

Shaders installed

Also, mouse movement is hella wonky with slowdowns
AND mouse sensitivity options is messed up, running 0.2 ingame sense, 600 DPI and I'm almost doing 360 turns

3070ti
1440p
64Gb RAM

I have been playing the game the game since dayone and I have a similar yet worse PC and I really had no stutters at all in my entire play time (70+hrs). I have a 3080, Ryzen 3800x, 16GB RAM and I play at 1440p also.

Have you tried messing with the settings to see if lowering something would alleviate the stutter? Try lowering shadows or textures, I remember doing that at some point and it eliminated and stutter I may have had at the start of my playrhough and it really did not look any worse imo.

If it's anything like DI 1, you have to try and stabilize the frame times. This is best achieved with frame rate capping via a hooking approach rather than natively, so something like RTSS - and also making use of some sort of sync option to pair with the matching frame cap.

PS:- I just noticed in your video you have Unlimited FPS and No sync option, this is exacerbating your issue.

if you go too high on the fps, the game goes mental and the engine cant handle the drawcall or whatever requests and sh*ts the bed. cap fps to half of your monitors refresh rate or slightly above if you have vrr and a 144hz+ panel and it should stabilize alot. if not. frameratelock to 30 fps, if it still does it, refund, get the codex version if you know what i mean and see if anything changes. if that doesnt change anything, its probably some other issue, OS or whatever. but not the game specifically. no idea what it is, but when i used the release codex version, i had stutters, traversal stutters. but in the updated codex version, its butterysmooth for me. only change i did was swap my 5800x for a 5800x3d. but that shouldnt do jacksh*t except for frames when cpu bottlenecked. no idea my man. maybe its the DRM and peripheral issues or whatever. good luck figuring it out.

playing with a controller here, no stutters whatsoever. probably a m&kb issue?
my stuff: 7800x3d / 64 gb ddr5 / rtx 3080. playing in 1440p with ultra settings and without FSR.

Its something on your end it seems

5950x
32Gb RAM
6900xt
1440p ultra no fsr

avarage fps 204
no stutters...

I've gone all the way down to low settings - getting around 200 when looking forward, capped framerate with each step down to 60, experimented with FSR on and off, still massive stutters that will bring my framerate down to 40-50 when turning around.

Turning off FSR did help somewhat as that also gave me visual glitches shown some times in the video, but it did just that and not reduce the stuttering / drops

I'm no newbie to PC games, and I usually have little to no big issues with games - new and old

Closed any program I'm not using etc - no second monitor, still stutters as video showcase

UPDATE: Good thing you said about "Peripherals" InnerConflict

This was a polling rate issue for me, using above 2000 Polling Rate will make the game ♥♥♥♥ itself.

Using 2000 or less polling rate solves the issue - running Logitech Superlight 2

What do you mean by "polling rate?

What do you mean by "polling rate?

Your mouse have a reported "Polling rate" (kinda similar to how hz work in your monitor)
Usually mice (unless specified) have a polling rate of 1000 - meaning it sends 1000 updates a second to your computer

Gaming mice will start using higher polling rates, and some already are - with 2000 being the sweet spot for many, however some brands are also starting to push 4000 and 8000 polling rate (4000 and 8000 updates a second), which can cause issues with some game engines.

In my case I just opened G Hub and set my wireless polling rate to 2000 and problem solved - but I'll use 1000 polling rate in this game just to be sure.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, if I ever run into stutter this will be the first thing I look into.

EDIT: Just checked mine and its 1000 so that might explain why I did not have as bad as stuttering as you (assuming this 100% fixed your issue).

Yeah, my issue is 100% gone now. Running around High settings with FSR Balanced and getting 150+ fps - no stutters when turning - no traversal stutters either

Thank you so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ much! I'm pretty sure this solved my issue. I was getting so frustrated and I guess I overestimated my hardware. I'm on a RX 6950 XT w/ a 5800X3D and 64GB RAM playing @ 1440p. I use a Corsair mouse and keyboard and had them both set to 8000 polling because I figured, why not, might as well. I've been using that for quite a while and thought nothing of it until I started playing more intensive games and noticed issues specifically when moving and looking around quickly. I ignored iCue's warning of it using more resources because again, I guess I overestimated my hardware and just how much a quadruple polling rate was I guess. It was so disorienting and kinda giving me motion sickness in this game because I would try to turn around quickly and then it would stutter and I would completely lose track of which direction I was facing. I'm willing to bet this is going to improve some other games I was playing.

So long story short, I changed both my mouse and my keyboard from 8000mhz polling rate down to 2000mhz.

A fair few games actually have a problem with high polling rates above 2000Hz.

They either stutter, or, occasionally stop moving even though you are actually moving the mouse.

I'm terrible at explaining but hopefully people get the idea.
