Game Compatibility
Dead Island 2 is Playable on the Steam Deck and has been tested for smooth gameplay without significant bugs.

Cross-Play with Epic Games
Cross-play with Epic Games players is possible, but it may require some initial setup.

Font Size Adjustment
Note that font size adjustment is not supported in the game on the Steam Deck.

To help you navigate and resolve some common issues on the Steam Deck, we've provided a few useful tips:

Boot/Hang issue
There is currently a known minor emulation issue on Steam Deck that will likely cause the first launch of the game to stall on the Steam logo screen, after installing the prerequisites.

Simply close the game and relaunch, and you should progress past this and into the main menu. Our partners at Valve are looking into a fix for this.

Virtual Keyboard issue
“How do I access the keyboard to enter my account details on steam deck” – unfortunately, because of the way the popups work, we can’t bring up the virtual keyboard automatically, but all you need to do is press and hold the STEAM button, then press X and the virtual keyboard will appear.

The epic overlay is accessed by pressing L4, and controlled with mouse and keyboard input via the right trackpad.

Thanks glad the game is on steam and has compatibility, but please do not take the epic timed exclusive bs anymore. I refused to get the game on egs so you lost out on a sale for a longer period of time than you would have if you would have just put it on steam to begin with. People want their games in one place and not spread across multiple storefronts especially an inferior one like egs.

I can’t connect to epic games services, I have verified the game a few times and still, nothing. This is annoying.

Why entitlements are checked every time instead of once ? I have to disable Wi-Fi before launching the game to pass the "Connecting to EOS" blocked screen, but because of entitlements check I have to re-enable Wi-Fi just after. Please fix

I have not experienced any of the issues users have posted above. I am not sure if I am lucky AF or if I did something specific. Thinking back the only thing I made sure of was all of the drivers were installed & updated. The only "tweaking" I had to do was change the controller layout for SD - I use mouse & Keyboard for PC.

I do not know if this piece is relevant, but I have been bouncing back and forth between PC and SD. I have a Slayer I use on PC and a different one on SD.

So, as a user said earlier, THANK YOU and GOOD LOOKING OUT for all of the SD users.

Not epic game store ... but epic online service yeah its not the same but its one more DRM.

I need some help, It'll launch on my Steam deck but after that it brings me back to the main steam screen. I changed the compatibility and I'm having the same problem. I even uninstalled and reinstalled it again and it refuses to launch.

Don't launch with any compatibility, and if that's not working, go in and 'verify files'

Unfortunately, I'm having the same problem after checking verifying files and leaving the compatibility unchecked.
