Is there a real penalty for dying?

Hi! When dying, my charakter just respawns and continues the active quest, with only their weapons still being damaged and the enemies having regained some of their HP. Is that all that the game throws at you as a penalty for dying or is there something I'm missing?

Any ammo and medpacks you used before dying is lost. Same goes for weapon durability. This can make scripted horde or boss fights very difficult as you have less resources to win the fight and might even be forced to fight with lesser weapons.

If you're in the middle of a mission and you didn't reach a checkpoint you start over. Thus makes gauntlet type quests a major pain in the ass.

For me I got ammo back when I died although I only noticed this in the Sola DLC on boss fights but not med packs.
