Actual fix for the "Epic Online Services error" issue!
1. Check if you have an older version of "Epic Online Service" installed on your computer. If you do, uninstall it via Windows.

2. Download the Epic Games Launcher and install it. This will automatically download and install the correct version of "Epic Online Service" along with it.

3. After installation, log in to the Epic Games Launcher. Make sure to disable the option that launches the launcher when your system starts up.

4. Once logged in, close the launcher.

5. If you already have the Epic Games Launcher installed, log in and update it. This should also update the Epic Online Service.

6. It seems that you can't install the Epic Online Service without the Epic Games Launcher, but I could be mistaken. This process worked for me on my girlfriend's PC, and the game ran smoothly afterward.

I got this info from this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Vt9ul6SBnk

Alternative by Kolyambur 111:

1. Download Epic Games Launcher and install it completely (Launcher, Eos, Prerequisites). No need to log in or register.
2. Go to Start - Settings - Apps and uninstall Epic Games Launcher. Windows should ask for permission to action. First permission to uninstall Epic Game Launcher - Yes. Second permission to uninstall Eos - No.

By the way, it's frustrating that we have to go through all this when buying games on Steam. Steam should enforce rules preventing developers from adding extra launchers within their launchers. It's not good for consumers, and I really hate it. Have a good one!

I've been playing just fine without any of this, I wonder why it's such a plague for some people.

Unfortunately this doesn't work for me. I even made sure that the EOS was the newest one and it still doesn't work. It really sucks! I want to play it with my friend who own DI2 on EPIC.

I have no idea honestly. But unfortunately there are a lot of people, including me, who had trouble launching the game at all because of this error. And looking at the number of threads here about this or similar problems and the players who are trying to do something about it so that they can simply play the game they bought, this is simply a pathetic.

EPIC are insidious, theys gonna get ya.
Seriously though, unfortunately D!2 uses the Unreal Engine and Unreal is EPIC's property so that's probably why EOS is bundled with the Steam release, aside from crossplay that is. What I find interesting is that these various platforms; Steam, EPIC, EA, still require additional software instead of an established plug-in system between the clients. Seems half done.

Tried this, still doesn't connect to "Epic Online Services" after 10+ minutes (even though it flashes a "You're now online" notification at the top right within the first 5 seconds). Thanks for trying, though.

Because if the user run 'verify the integrity of cache file' through Steam. It will pull EOS script that is broken since April 25th ''hotfix v1.0'' If doing that it will break the original EPIC service app it had when the game got released April 22th.

The issue blew when Dambuster Studio attempted to fix launching this hotfix. As long you don't run Verify the integrity of cache files or run EOS script. The game will not get in conflict with a infinite loading issue or ''EOS not found'' errors.

If you previously have been struggling and still cannot escape from this messy thing. Try this:

so if you delete the Epic Online Services folder. you need to go to the dead island folder binaries and delete the EOS also after that it works.
Erasing EOS folder solved what ever is bugging with Epic online service excutable.

Is partially resolved. Everytime I run the game through Steam client it ask to execute EOS script line. So I deny the prompt script and proceed with the game.

However since then Steam achievements are no longer getting registered, being updated or tracking anymore. :diaxe::cozycastondeath::shiva: :diaxe::cozycastondeath::shiva: :diaxe::cozycastondeath::shiva: :diaxe::cozycastondeath::shiva: :diaxe::cozycastondeath::shiva: :diaxe::cozycastondeath::shiva: :diaxe::cozycastondeath::shiva:

You still can verify your game files, however in case you have the Epic Games Launcher installed, you need to make sure to uninstall the wrong version of the Epic Online Service and get the most up to date one via the Epic Games Launcher. Achievements work without any issues with the provided method. Hope it will help some people. Make sure to follow every step, there is also the video if you need visual guidance. Have a good one guys!

doesn't work for me. since that Hotifix update the EOS installer doesn't install anything. it goes up to 99% then reverts back to 0% and nothing installed. the game of course is "missing EOS" so I just play without EOS and the .ini fix.

fun fact: it worked @release without issues but the game update broke it on my end.

Again, you need to follow the steps. You cannot install EOS without having the Epic Games Launcher. If you have the Epic Games Launcher already installed, you can just deinstall the wrong version of EOS and get the right one via updating your Epic Games Launcher.

I was hoping this would fix my achievements not being tracked, but it doesn't help with that unfortunately.
