What happened with the other 5 slayers that you didn't choose at the beginning of the game?
So in the first game after you chose a character at the beginning to play as, although you were alone gameplay wise, lore wise it was established through cutscenes that all 4 characters were travelling together, you just didn't see them when playing the game in singleplayer. However in this game once you choose your character the other slayers never appear in any of the cutscenes nor are they ever mentioned. So is it safe to say that the characters you didn't pick died in the plane crash? Or are all 6 characters canonicaly alive?

Reed tells you that he has been following you and the other slayers for a while (as there are pictures of them on his lab) and, if the trailers/promo videos are anything to go by, they are probably just doing their own thing all around Hell-A

Now, who the slayer that canonically saves Sam B and (tragically) Emma, i guess it's up for debate.

i dunno, i doubt even the devs put that much thought into it

Apparently, the excuse given for the characters referring to our player character as "they" is because the group is together...

True, but there are however instances like in one of the first sidequests that you can encounter where Curtis refers to you as "kid", implying you were alone when doing his quest. Then at other times they use "they" and this inconsistency a lil bit confuses things tbh.

I don't think the devs are all that concerned about that. There are many things that are senseless that they don't mind at all. Why should the characters be any different.

treat it like borderlands. you can tell they escaped with you from the plane crash. the dialog at emma house when you first get there makes it clear with this we need the keys to the hand cuffs

I remember being extremely confused in the first one, I'm not a fan of multiplayer, people rush ahead, agro all the enemies, steal all the loot, are generally cancerous, so I played it solo. I used to be so confused during cutscenes because they included all the other slayers. I later found out it was intended to be played with bunches of other people, and that's why they did that. I'm glad they didn't do that in this one.

just accept that the writing is not the best, the game recognizes that other slayers exist, besides your own, while at the same time npc's refer to both you and "your group" at the same time, differently.

I paid barely any attention when you get refered as a singular being or as a group, but concerning that I believe that most/every main quest you are refered to as a group while side quests are refering to you, the person.

Getting called "bestie", "kid", etc. when doing side quests, being called "they" when doing main quest, aka: the group splits up during exploration, if we want to give it some logical explanation.

This makes the most sense but this switching from singular to group is very confusing. Perhaps it would be safe to say that in the beginning all 6 characters made it to Emma's house, but only your character remained there and tried to help the survivors by getting them out of the city, while the other 5 characters went their own separate ways trying to escape the city and didn't stick around for long.

Seems like compromises of trying to make it both single player and multiplayer.
Storywise you are playing alone, but lore wise you traveled as a group, so everybody survived.

I actually much prefer this over what Dead Space 3 did, where you play alone yet game pretends like there is 2 people ...
I have much bigger problem that its written like a part of a series rather than self contained game. Making sequel bait without knowing if there will be a sequel is the worst idea ever.

They are all dead hanging upside down on the plane when you first wake up if you had bothered to look.
