How to remove the film grain for better graphics (imo)
Not my own work i found on the internet, but it definately improves visuals imo.
Played over ten hours already, wish id found this when i started playing.

Edit the Engine.ini file from Users[username]\AppData\Local\DeadIsland\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

(The appdata folder might well be hidden.)

Open the .ini file with notepad add this to the bottom of the text and save.

[SystemSettings]

r.SSR.MaxRoughness=0

r.ToneMapper.GrainQuantization=0

r.ToneMapper.Quality=0

r.SceneColorFringe.Max=0

r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0

The only sub-folder I have under DeadIsland\Steam\ Saved is SaveGames, no WindowsNoEditor. I've played a few hours, I can't imagine how that file is missing from app data\local. Does everyone else see 'Config' on the same folder level as 'SaveGames'?

Thanks! I was already wondering about that. I don't understand why that's even a thing or why there's not at least an option in-game to turn it off.

Too right , i didnt realise myself what a difference it would make removing that grain.

This is something like this I was looking for!
I just need a line that removes shaking and clutter from the effects during battle, because of which performance drops from 80-100 fps, sometimes down to 15-20 when the screen is oversaturated with effects specifically with the effect of... shaking and “smearing” textures. It's not exactly motion blur. I don’t know how to explain it, but this effect greatly impacts FPS. Any suggestions or a line that should be added to the ini file?

Id just try experimenting with graphics options sliders for that.
