The only way i get to play now is if i make the ini change and delete EOS from the game folder but then you lose access to your DLCs and the pro stuff.
1. Make an exclusion rule for the steam folder in your antivirus
2. Disable OneDrive
3. Verify the integrity. (they told people to do this even if they were not having issues after the update)
since no one knows what apps you run on your PC or how you maintain it, you should make sure there arent any other third party apps interfering with steam or messing with file/folder permissions.
- download and install the Epic Launcher (comes with the correct EOS installer file)
- close the Launcher/Update
- start the game on Steam (EOS installer pops up)
- quit out of the game & uninstall the Epic Launcher (when the window for EOS pops up click "No")

If I wore a tinfoil hat I'd say that Timmy did this on purpose but whatever...
At least I didn't have to make an account and could safely uninstall EGS after that (hopefully it didn't leave many traces).
Here, have some of my points my friend.
1. open Regedit
2. navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer (or create key, if not present)
3. change DisableRollback to 1 or create DWORD DisableRollback and set it to 1
4. install EOS from game directory
5. remove changes from registry or set DisableRollback to 0
The installation will now work and the EOS service will also be installed an can be started. In my case I still get the "could not find EOS from the game", but maybe it works for someone else.

1. Download Epic Games Launcer from Epic
2. Install it and allow everything it asks for
3. Let it update and again allow everything
4. Minimize or close the Launcher
5. Game should run now
I tried to uninstall (only) the Epic Games Launcher and deny changes to Epic Online Services through that deinstallation, but no luck so far, the game tells me, that it couldn't find the Epic Online Services.
It seems that the EOS-Version, that comes with the game is missing some prerequisites, which comes with the Epic Games Launcher.
I just wonder why the installation works for some folk but not for all. maybe the players with EGS installed on their pc got no issues? I don't have it and no account.
