Stuck while connecting to Epic Online Services

Until the last patch I didn't have any problem with the game, but now it gets stuck at "Connecting to Epic Online Services" when I launch it ... like an infinite loading, and can't play it anymore. I tried restarting PC, verifying game files, unistalling and reinstalling, but the behaviour doesn't change. Is this happening to you too?

p.s.
Obviously I don't have any problem at all with my connection/firewall/av, everything is working just fine.

Tenebro just told you the issue. You are a developer or representative of the developers. Please fix the issue instead of directing everyone to your own support group, which just tells everyone to refer to Steam support. It's ridiculous.

EOS installer/install script is running trough but no EOS installed afterwards. game is searching for EOS before entering the main menu and aborts with "EOS not found". something just doesn't work with the latest EOS installer. maybe detected and blocked as malware? nothing shown in W11 security. idk.

I played the game just fine with 90fps locked, no stutters 1440p Ultra details for over 12 hours. not a hotifx patch hits me and ♥♥♥♥ doesn't even start anymore and I shall call support. wtf.

Found a workaround to at least play offline: edit deadisland.ini in the game folder and change "NoOperation=0" to "NoOperation=1".
Still no updates from support, nor an official solution for this problem.

EDIT: after restarting the game this workaround doesn't work anymore 😅

Found another workaround: simply wait! After 20-30 mins of "connecting" it gives an error, click ok, and you get into the game. Not ideal, but at least you can play.

Anyway still no updates from support, nor an official solution for this problem.

yeah if you watch the "Epic Online Services" folder you can see that the files jsut get deleted when the installer finishes
I had no problems on my first start, everything was perfect, besides some clipping issues i had no bugs, Performance was Awesome but as soon as i started the game again some time later nothing in regards to that epic connecting ♥♥♥♥ worked.

refunded it and waiting for a fix as im already 2.5 hours gametime and i cant refund if i have to much time.

Yeah same here played it fine then this hot fix came out I can't even get onto the game now iv done everything what it says on their website but no good, just keeps getting stuck on connecting to epic online services

You can also try to set Steam offline, launch the game, get in the game main manu, and set Steam again to online mode. Not the optimal solution, but at least you can play.

i read somewhere that unlinking your steam account from your epic account fixes the connecting to epic ♥♥♥♥

i tried it and it works.

Support PLAION doesn't offer many options for help: check file integrity, uninstall, reinstall the game. And that's it. It doesn't solve the problem and the hotfix made it worse rather than better.

yeah i understand that, luckily for me Fortnite is the only Epic game i really play somewhat so thats not a huge deal for me.

i hope for you that it gets fixed fast.

Hey,
If you still have the issue I think I found a temporary fix. It works for me but I can't be sure it will work for you too.
For context, I'm on Steam and want to play with my friend on Epic.

Here's the fix :
- I unlink my Steam account on Epic website
- Launch the game, you won't have the unlimited EOS loading issue anymore
- Go online settings In-game and link your steam account again (be sure to activate cross-play + that other parameter about EOS)
- Then the only way to play together is that the person on Epic create the lobby and the person on Steam join him from the in-game friends menu (if steam person create the lobby there is no way for the epic person to join, don't ask me why)

Here you go. The only problem I got with this fix is that after like 1hour, 1h30 playing with my friend, I get disconnected for some reasons and have to do the whole trick again, it seems to happen anyway.

Obviously this fix also works for people who just want to skip the EOS infinite loading screen, not even sure you have to link your epic account again then.
