Epic Online Services – FAQ & Clarification (Epic Games Launcher is NOT required)

Epic Games Launcher ≠ Epic online Services

As we mentioned earlier Dead Island 2 on Steam does not require Epic Games Launcher for playing the game at all. However, the game indeed requires Epic Online Services.

❗Connecting to Epic Online Services happens automatically and doesn’t need any Epic Launcher or Epic account linking.

Crossplay

The crossplay option is enabled by default

For crossplay with random players on both Steam or Epic Games, you don't need to link your account to an Epic Games account.

You will need an Epic Games account to sync your Epic friends list with your steam friends list, and to invite friends who own the game on the Epic Games platform to play with you on Steam.

If the Steam user’s Epic account is linked and signed in in-game, then:

• They can match make with any other user via quickplay just like an unlinked Steam account can, as long as crossplay is enabled.
  
  
• They will have 2 friends lists – Steam friends and Epic friends, they can invite and join players from either of these lists
  
  
• They can bring up the Epic overlay and access their Epic friend list from there too, in addition to the Steam overlay

If the accounts are linked but they don't see any of the benefits mentioned above, they should ensure they are signed into Epic within the game. This option can be found in the online options menu.

Please note, Epic Online Services is required to play the game, even in single player, due to the way the game is coded; this happens automatically.

Unlinked accounts can still play with Epic players via quickplay if crossplay is enabled, they just won’t have an in-game Epic friends list or the Epic friends list overlay

Can you DEVS add more place for online games? The original 《dead Island》online game was for 4 player to playing, and now《dead island 2》 it's just for 3 player, its so ridiculous

EOS has the ability to run in a self-contained environment without the need to be installed and create registry entries when enabling crossplay; why are the devs seperating it as its own installer through a executable here? EOS should always be an OPT-IN feature. Coding the game where this service needs to be active and running, even in singleplayer, is what many users are pointing out as an issue. I recommend that the devs consider making this optional, or at least make the game playable in SP and offline when this service is completely uninstalled.

Yup, stuck on the Connecting to Epic Game Services screen... you guys were paid to be Sweeny's slave for one year of exclusivity and that should have expired now. Why can't you just remove anything related to Epic from this Steam version.

Just taht you guys know... they are forcing you to download this peace of ..... epic launcher that you can start the game... i found a fix for it. im really mad on you guys that you force me to download epic games launcher just that i can play a steam game. i will never buy a game from you again.

sorry @vintage. but it does not work.
i tried to install just eos it didn t install. i downloaded epic game launcher deaktivated it in my system it works fine.
