Weapons don't load or take a very long time to load when joining CO-OP?

Worked fine up until the last week or so but every time I join a friend's coop, my weapons either don't load in at all or take a very long time to finally load. The only defense I have is running or drop kick. Any fixes?

Game runs fine and weapons load when I'm the host/single player.

you've already listed your fix..... host. game uses P2P. you are at the mercy of the hosts good or bad connection unless you yourself host.
