I just wanted to give you a quick update.
@Pizza_Labs
I tried deleting all the intro videos and restarted my pc. The game will now just crash on opening.
@Xavier: Renegade Angel
I tried your method too by disabling audio before launching game but unfortunately didn't resolve the issue.
I am not sure what else can be done here.
Here is the link to my specs

I have uninstalled
1. Epic game launcher
2. Epic online service
Unfortunately, the game will still crash on launch.
I had the same problem.
What if you install to a different drive?
I was successful with that method.
It seems to be a bug in the path during installation.
The game was working fine. I played for about 50 hours. It just stopped last week all of sudden and keeps crashing, I will give it a shot to see if it works.
I wanted to close the loop on this one.
I reached out to the official game developers and created a case here:
https://playersupport.plaion.com/hc/en-us/categories/6777189767837-DEAD-ISLAND-2
As per their instructions, I followed these steps
1. Initiate the SFC scan:
- Type CMD in your PC's search box.
- Right-click on the command prompt and select Run this program as administrator.
- Type SFC /scannow
- Hit enter, Windows will then begin the verification, this step may take a few minutes to complete.
- Once the scan is complete, close the command prompt and restart your Computer
2. Completely uninstall and reinstall your Game:
Step 1: Uninstall the game via Steam
Step 2: Some files may remain on your PC after uninstalling the game. To completely uninstall the game from your PC and remove any installation errors and files, we recommend that you ensure that all files associated with your game are deleted from the following folders:
C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Local
C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Locallow
C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Roaming
C:\Users\YOUR_USER\Documents
C:\Users\YOUR_USER\Documents\My Games
Steam game installation folder, by default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common (if you have installed your game on a secondary Hard Drive, we recommend checking the folders there as well)
Please note: some folders, such as "AppData" may be hidden for you and in order to show them, you can follow these instructions from Microsoft.
Step 3: Reinstall the game
After these steps the game crash upon launching was resolved.
Thank you.
