Ondusi's Key Megathread
If your thread has been merged here, or if you have been directed to this thread, then you have probably asked something related to the Ondusi's Key spell.

  • The hitbox for doors is unusual in the Skyrim Engine. Try to aim at the bottom of the door, as if you were throwing the spell under it.
  • The spell should never fail. If it looks like it failed, then you have missed the hitbox of the object.
  • The spell script will be changed in the future to account for the strange hitboxes.

Ondusis Key
what is the point of this scroll, you only seem to be able to use it to open locks you could pick anyway, seems like a significantly more expensive lockpick.

it is for using on locks that are above your currant lock picking level .

well like the original post says, I only seems able to use it on locks that i can pick already, i'll quick save and recast it tons of times and it never picks a lock of the scrolls level unless i can already pick it.

The Ondusis Key scroll should say what locks it can open.
Nerevar Feb 21, 2019 @ 11:18am
there is tiers of that scroll.

also these are AREA EFFECT on target spells spells. if you are too close to a lock you want to pick the spell will simply MISS sometimes. stand a bit back and aim at the chest.

they also dont seem to work on door locks at all.

thier purpose is to provide an option to open locks above the basic ones without leveling up lockpicking or getting perks for the higher locks. in exchange they cost money and some carryweight and are a one time use aswell.

imo pickpocket and lockpicking are pretty useless compared to handicrafting/achlemy (enchanting is overpowered and will get nerfed for certain which is why i wont list it nor would i recommenced using it currently. its definitly too strong right now and ruins balance completly unlike the former 2)

One of the easiest ways to open most locks is to aim the spell at the ground just below what you actually want to open.

This also works for doors.

You can not open doors with the scrolls, only boxes. At least that's the case with me.

As said above, they're supposed to work on doors, but its somewhat finicky. The hitbox isn't clear.

The hitbox on doors may not be intuitive but it is consistent, once you know where it is doors will open on your first try every try, the same rule applies to the vaults in the bank.

Pretend that instead of trying to hit the lock with the spell you're trying to shoot the spell under the door so it can unlock the door from the other side. You should be aiming at the ground just below the wood of the door. Works every time.

Scroll of Ondusi's Key doesn't work
Exactly what it says. Used Scroll of Ondusi's Key (Expert) on an Expert door. Didn't work. Reloaded and retried about 5 times. Tried aiming around the door. Tried aiming at the middle of the door. Tried aiming at the lock. Tried moving closer and farther. Doesn't work.

Lockpick Scrolls failing
Do lockpick scrolls have a success rate or something? They dont work every time when I hit a chest/door with them.
Nomnom Victory Feb 25, 2019 @ 4:48pm
They have a 100% success rate but you have to hit the hitbox of the item that you want to unlock and be using a scroll of the same tier or higher than the lock (expert scrolls won't unlock a master lock).

To get the hitbox every time you want to aim at the ground just barely in front of what you want to unlock. So for doors you pretend that you're trying to shoot the spell underneath the door and for something like bankvaults instead of aiming at the ground you're going to aim at the stone of the frame just below the vault door. Also try to make sure that you're aiming somewhat along the vertical centerline of the door.
