Video cutscenes ear rendingly loud compared to the rest of the game.
I usually do a lot of fiddling with audio levels since I don't want to destroy the ears of those watching my streams. This kinda falls into one of the traps some games tend to. In that while there are seperate audio sliders, the video cutscenes don't have their own, and piggy backs of one of the other settings. Worse so here it seems, in fact I'd go so far to claim that the videos fully ignore the sound sliders.

It's a pretty normal thing but I'd like to be able to play it at a volume where I can actually hear the game without risking blowing everyones ears out when a cutscene decides to play.

indeed the video ignores the sliders. because the video isnt rendered by the game. its a pre recorded video in the enderal folder. so it has always max volume. skyrim itself didnt have a cutscene. the only 'video' they used was the bethesda logo at the start. and thats what sureai did to make videos happen. its a miracle they got it in working this good in the first place.

if you want to lower the volume you would have to encode the video and lower the sound. which i dont recommend. just by looking at the video title alone will spoiler you. so i wouldnt go in there if i were you.

just play the game as it was intended. with the default sound settings. and lower the volume in your stream instead. im not a streamer, but im sure there are options to lower your game volume output.
There are plenty of options to lower volume. But those also lower everything else so no one will be able to hear any game sounds.

Do you know if deleting or replacing with blank .1 second videos will allow me to skip said videos?

when i watch streams twitch streamer are usually able to change the volume of the game within OBS or whatever they are using. i have seen them many times lowering or upping the volume of a game without going into te ingame settings. not just talking about enderal, im talking in general.
just put the sounds to the default settings. so they are as loud as the video themselves. and lower volume. so you have always even sound. i dont really understand your problem. and to answer your question:

if you want to skip the videos you can do that in the mod configuration menu. there is an option to skip all videos.

but why would you do that? especially the last video is important. it explains the whole story to you. it makes only sense for speedrunners to skip that.

The volume OBS has influence on is global. Turning down the volume turns down ALL of the game volume, when only the cutscenes are too loud. It's a choice between being able to hear the cutscenes or the rest of the game, and there's more of the rest of the game.

Thanks I'll set them to skip in mod config.

which is exactly why i said to reset your audio settings to DEFAULT. so both the game and the cutscenes are at the SAME LEVEL.

Game's default audio levels aren't good, so that won't work.

but you just need to lower them through OBS? you really confuse me tbh. maybe we are talking about something different lol

I think so too. Lemme explain so we're on the same page hopefully. I've got it fixed already so it's no problem anymore, but for understandings sake.

My usual audio settings for the game is something like voices 100% sound effects 60-70% music 40% stuff like that. If I had to keep everything so it would fit the videos I'd have to boost some of those up over 100% which I can't, and then lower the entire volume globally afterwards. That's the problem.
