[SOLVED?] What is up with all the empty jewelry boxes?

{EDIT: No more empty locked boxes. Plenty of empty ones, but all the ones that look like final boss boxes and such, there are none that are EMPTY and LOCKED, as expected.}

This is like the fourth one I've come across in as many caves. Is this normal for everyone else?

I don't remember having that many empty ones (if any at all). Are you using any mods?

Many, many years ago I did. Probably never uninstalled them. Might be time for a complete reinstall of Skyrim from scratch. It would force a complete restart, but I've hit an even more serious bug that's likely to stop me from progressing completely. A normal lock that doesn't normally require a lockpick to open it, no suddenly I can't unlock it because I don't have the skill according to the game, although it's a shop door during normal business hours that's exhibiting this behavior, and I walked through it just fine 5 minutes ago when I entered the shop..

*sigh* Thanks for reminding me. I'm sure I never uninstalled all the mods from at least 4 years ago. Pretty sure that's what's screwing everything up. Crashes have started happening too.

I've discovered empties here and there, But not so many that it was ever more than a minor annoyance (and it was! =p).

Will let you know if it's fixed. I ran into a problem way back will the loot lists being completely corrupted, due to massive amounts of mods installed, so Enderal is probably suffering the same issues since I have forgotten what all was installed in my Skyrim back when I was modding it heavily.

After I did the Uninstall in Steam for Skyrim, there were so many files leftover that I'm sure something was conflicting. Deleted all that too, now I'm waiting for the download to finish. Might take some time to get back to where I was in the game that I started noticing the issues, but I will let you know if I start seeing empty jewelry boxes again. I will remember which ones they were when I see them.

This has nothing to do with Skyrim or mods that you've got installed on Skyrim.
Enderal is a total separate installation.

Empty strongboxes can occur due to how loot is distributed. Most loot in strongboxes is generated based on the player level with a small chance that nothing good or nothing at all is inside the box. So you basically just had bad luck.

Seriously? Hrmmm.. might have re-downloaded & reinstalled for nothing then..

But there are just so many (weird & unique) issues I was having that I don't see mentioned anywhere else, I would be willing to bet it was something I did. These are some strange things that were very specific to some extensive modding I had issues with almost 5 years ago.

I hope this isn't the Enderal installation's fault, because if it is, it will never get fixes.

I'm talking about terrain flickering in and out of existence, tree meshes getting randomly replaced with some weird 2-dimensional looking cardboard cutouts, missing weapons when I ready them, game CTD'ing when I try to cast a spell...

Really? Because I have yet to find ANY locked jewelry boxes or chests, for that matter, that are empty during this new fresh-install playthrough. Not only is it just silly and illogical that a locked jewelry box would be empty, just mainly from a game standpoint, but also in the real world. Most empty jewelry boxes I would say are unlocked.

And this is the final jewelry box that I came across in my previous playthrough, now in this fresh-install playthrough, every single one of them had something in them:
