Esme as a Romance partner?
I've read that there are 2 romance possible partners, However I think I would much prefer Esme, as a romance partner. Seemed very sad to leave her in Duneville. With her being heartbroken I felt sure she needed to be rescued. With her having the best female (Misfit ) outfit thus far in the game.

Still hoping that she will have more than the 2 lines of dialogue each time I visit her.

Or would there be a mod to make a romance with Esme possible?

Esme is (hands down) my absolute FAVORITE character in Enderal.

Adventuring with her and getting to know her has been THE best part of my time in Enderal so far (which is very much how I felt about questing with Katria when I played Skyrim) - I just hated for it to be 'over' when that time finally did roll around.

That having been said, I honestly don't believe I'd feel the same way toward Esme if it was possible for me to 'romance' her via the same type of character quest line that's possible with the other two.

It's kind of a bittersweet acknowledgement to make, but I wouldn't mod or change a single thing having to do with Esme: she's awesome, but I think she's best left exactly as she was created. She's one of Enderal's crown jewels, imo. <3

I agree totally She is fantastic ... the quest structure builds her character really well, gives her the best feminine clothing in the game. The Misfit outfit.
(Which encouraged me as an aeterna female character to use the same outfit. It is very similar to the nexus mod "Misfit mage outfit" only that the trousers and leggings are missing textures on the player character and needs an unnamed file to make trousers appear in game)

I would have loved having the facelight mod highlighting her during several of the dark dungeons
and for that romantic discussion up on the Old lighthouse. At least for now, she has been hanging around in Duneville for a while afterwards.

I would love having her as a follower with occassional dialogue.

I've reached the part of game where I have retrieved the Black gems with Jespar and Calia.

With Jespar ... okay his sister killed him and had him burning continuously.
Then the veiled Lady turned up ... interesting!

However all the dialogue options, revolved around ... that I supposedly had a close connection to the person on the original ship .... wrong ... I felt no connection to him at all.

For the veiled lady to then resurrect Jespar for me to make up for that stowaway dying ... Huh.

Chase after Jespar and have the chat in the brothel with him to reveal all his dirty secrets ... just made me want to kill him. So I feel No connection to Jespar at all.

Calia with her black stone quest ... I didn't see the trap coming ... and being locked in aside room while it all happened ... again she doesn't want any companionship and is dealing with her traumas. No dialogue there that felt even remotely satisfying.

The only character I have felt any connection to would be Esme who is still sitting in Duneville Inn hoping to leave Enderal ... So is there any point in still playing the game?

There's a whole lot more to do in Enderal besides these character quests, but if you're particularly interested in character relationships/development in your rpgs (which too few of them do very well, imo), then I get where you're coming from.

Jespar and Calia are two strikingly attractive and endearing people who are both clearly flawed, and who both also come loaded down with a lot of 'baggage' from their respective pasts. I find them both easy to love but also frustratingly difficult to understand and/or get along with at times.

In attempting to become more deeply involved (or 'serious') with either of these two, we encounter a challenge that is fundamental to a great many 'real life' relationships, and it is this: No matter who we choose to love, there will almost always be something about that individual which drives us insane, or that's utterly heartbreaking, or both.

I think the primary lesson that Jespar and Calia teach us about this is that we must be willing to love the whole person or be prepared to simply walk away - otherwise our relationships with them will more than likely fail in the long run, and quite miserably.

Loving someone involves all kinds of shared Good Stuff™ but it's how we deal with the flaws, the foibles, the warts, and the negative tendencies of the other person that actually determines how successful we'll be together, and for how long.

I personally believe the most critically important aspect of 'love' is simple acceptance of that which is 'unlovable' in the people we love, because once we seek to 'change' that in our beloved which we are unwilling to accept, then our focus is really no longer about the collaborative success of the relationship, or about that other person, individually, but actually about our 'self' instead, and what self demands or expects above and beyond everything else.

These are things that I believe Jespar and Calia both speak very authoritatively about, just in being who they are - and it's up to us to figure this out about them, because neither comes with a note pinned to his or her sleeve that spells it out.

And while she also has baggage of her own, I think Esme has some entirely different (although no less fundamental) points to make about life in 'The Great Wide World' (both in hers and in ours).

One is 'The grass is always greener' (elsewhere), and another one is: No matter how much you may want something, sometimes you just can't have it - no matter how hard you try, or how much blood, sweat, or tears you shed in attempting to acquire it.

These aspects of 'the human condition' are far from innovative: they've been floating around for as long as people have lived and breathed in our world - and yet many people live their entire lives (and then die) without ever figuring any of it out.

* * * * *

Different people will likely see and interpret these characters differently, but I respect and admire their creator for imbuing them with such profoundly touching humanity.

I wouldn't change anything about any of them.

I am purposefully NOT reading these comments in detail, but looking forward to encountering this character..!!

So I replayed the quest Angel and was stunned that during a cutscene where a vision was playing I got a different result! Amazing that they must have several cutscenes prepared.

As there was a skeleton in a hidden side passage I didn't notice so the vision starts playing an the skeleton archer starts shooting me. I moved so that some of his shots missed ... but during a vision movement is like in treacle and this one is a loong vision. Well the veiled woman turns up near the end of the vision ... but first she despatched the skeleton with lightning spells before going to Calia .. Ehr Maya. So did the veiled woman misunderstand Maya's name or have a even more complicated reality possiblity in mind?

So that has improved Calia's reactions ... thanks for your indepth descriptions MikeBob2013

I would still love to have a possibilty ... a reality where there is a romance with Esme .... anything that adds dialogue or extra content, with her voice, her looks and her sexy Misfit outfit. Even just giving her temporary accommodation in a shared house till she can leave ... or being able to ask her to dance while at the Duneville Inn. without needing to type
player.playidle idleCiceroDance1 or Select Esme playidle idleCiceroDance2

Her outfit is one NPC outfit that could nearly be used by any female player. It only has one unnamed file that needs to be used with the one of the two "Misfit Bracers Alter" for the trousers to appear. Though Misfit trousers and misfit leggings both have missing textures so they shouldn't be used.
If Esme's Misfit outfit could be crafted it would add a sexy outfit to the game without needing the console to get it working

I do love the Misfit outfit that Esme wears in ARK and later in Duneville.
Which is useable by consoling what Esme is wearing with Showinventory and equipping all including the unnamed item.

The misfit outfit is a classy addition to the outfits in the game, would be even better if they could be Crafted though.

I'm all business, all the time.

But if I *was* gonna dance, I think I'd look pretty funny in that outfit you got on. :steammocking:

(You guys look okay though. :steamhappy:)

(P/S: And I'm wondering when they're gonna get tired of looking at this in the Support section and move it someplace else. XD)

MikeBob2013 in regard to your quote

"Jespar and Calia are two strikingly attractive and endearing people who are both clearly flawed, and who both also come loaded down with a lot of 'baggage' from their respective pasts. I find them both easy to love but also frustratingly difficult to understand and/or get along with at times."

I do tend to roleplay my characters ... but usually on a "true neutral" style at least that was the style I played back .. in the old days of like "Baldersgate". Where I tend to act like a mirror if a character lies and cheats then that is the sort of behaviour that they can expect of me. Someone who is open and honest I would give my life for defending in RL or game.

I would contemplate that the only honest statement I have heard from Jespar is from his admissions how he left the love of his life to be "beaten" while he walked away and didn't care. Sure for Jespar that may be a cathartic statement to clear his mind and his feelings of guilt. However for me knowing that Jespar would betray anyone he deals with due to his cowardice does not get love or sympathy from me.

From the first discussion with him in the sun coast ... how did he save me from the bandits "Oh the blast must have blown you clear so I was able to save you. Sorry the chair is still in the exact same spot, I would suspect more that Jespar killed Finn and Carbos with fire spells to get me clear than that he saved me from bandits, I could believe more that the veiled woman dropped me from a space craft than that Jespar did anything for me. I still feel more compassion for Finn than for Jespar. I struggle to think of a fun thing I have done that included Jespar. In any fight he usually would have died and mostly I was leading taking most of the punishment ... playing as a mage.

So I'd say Jespar is a flawed character that I haven't been able to see any endearing qualities in.

Calia has a very troubled background ... and a very troubled future but she has compassion and a complex character that I would support through thick and thin. though I sense that will be a hard road.

Having played through to the end of Enderal ... and sat down dumb founded ... in awe .. appreciative of all the effort that has gone into this massive endeavour!
I feel incredibly SAD that I couldn't rescue anyone ... especially my Esme ... even if she wouldn't love me back I still think Esme would / could be the third possible romance to run away with. (To her home or to the starcity)

I appreciated that Esme whilst wearing her sexy Misfit outfit had no armor rating and at each encounter with enemies came perilously close to death .. such that she would not have been keen to get more involved with any fighting.

However Esme as a loving woman thinking about the future of mankind needing to be united and clear of purpose so that at the end of the next civilization a loving compassionate ending may be possible without losing all.

I was a bit disappointed that in the end I didn't get to have a say between Yuslan and Tealor. Probably ... as each prophetess before me as well.
