How do I raise Enchanting?
Is there any other way to raise the Enchanting skill, besides from books, because I'm at 55 and need to be at least 75 to create decent apparitions. In the Alchemy list one of the few that are grayed out is Fortify Enchanting. Why is that?
Also, is there any wearable gear in the game that raises enchanting, if so, where can I find it?
I don't use mods, so that's not the way to go.
Please help a relative noob! :steamsad:

Alchemy effects are normally only greyed out because you're not holding two ingredients that you know to have that effect, but since the fortify enchanting alchemy effect doesn't actually raise your enchanting level I doubt it would work for the purpose that you want anyway.

There are a few items that raise your enchanting level while equipped, the two most notable ones are the Hand of the Wandering Mage (set item) and the Cloak of Twilight.

The Cloak of Twilight is a unique item and can only be obtained from the first bounty quest in Duneville, it's in the inventory of the person that you're sent after (get the bounty quest from the noticeboard in the Duneville bar/tavern).

The Hand of the Wandering Mage can be found in several locations, I normally grab one from Northcliff Hold or Frostwater Chasm.

Wearing both of those items together will raise your enchanting level by 20 points, which sounds like what you need (you'll still need the relevant Phasmalist perk to craft the talisman you want).

I have the Hand of the wandering mage (9 points) and I must have somehow missed out on the Cloak of twilight cuz I did the whole bounty quest line in Duneville and I don't have it. Boo Hoo! :steamsad:

I'd add that you can make potions to enhance enchanting and if wearing gear that ups making potions ... then with 100 alchemy skill you can get a plus 40% enchanting potion. That helps a lot with enchanting though it does only help for one enchanted item per potion.

But where do I find the recipe for the fortify enchanting potion,,, To my knowledge I can't make it unless I have the recipe? :steamsad:

if you want to experiment with them you can just blend 2 ingridents together and hope for the best. you can also get the first effect by eating them. other than that recipes are the only way to find out what each one does but it will only unlock that particular effect once crafted

The Sensitive Tongue perk from the Vagrant tree will let you unlock more of an ingredients effects by eating it, but since that perk is drastically overpriced in Enderal at 3 memory points, I'd just check the wiki (you can make a potion without the recipe if you know the ingredients).

Of course you also need to increase the crafting skill Enchant to gain a higher percentage enchantment. So to increase alchemy and enchanting for better armor or weapon enchants.

Whilst still having some lockpicking to allow you to open chests of the next level, Some Rhetoric to lower prices for all those books ... some sleight of hand to increase hidden loot. Becomes a hard balancing act.

Of course there are also books you can find and using a mod like Enderal Tracking Tool which lets you bring up a marker for some memory books. Helps to find the extra books out there.
