There's at least one book that gives you a memory point, too. I'd imagine there's more, but if that's the case then they're damn hard to come across.
//edit: I forgot about the fact that learning points exist as well. They don't seem to be too big of a problem, I'm level 30 and currently 82 in Entropy and 61 in Psionics with 33 leftover points, not counting the buffs like Knowledge (Blessing of the Wise One, up to +4 to all combat stats) or synergies.
keep in mind tough AFFINITYs are limited offers and you can only keep ONE of em. so choose wisely check the wiki for thier bonuses and decide which one you want beforehand.
learning points barely matter as thier impact is SUPER SMALL compared to gear. for example difference between 15 heavy armor and 100 heavy armor with the top set is only about 60 armor rating. the set itself with handicraft bonus has nearly 300 with a good shield already. so only about 20% more for 85! skill raise. and that doesnt mean you take 20% less dmg. more like 5-10% less. not worth it therefore.
weapon damage also only seems to go up every 10 points by 1 (for 1 handed swords) so only about 10 base points more damage. better than the armor for sure but still not something that matters much.
the spell schools are worth it till 90 to allow you to learn their mytical spells (this also requries the master perk for the school aswell)
you need less than 100 perks to get all the "more useful" perks in total. keep in mind the sets fokus you on one playstyle pretty much anyway. there is no set that buffs archery and one handed in the same magnitude for example.
so pick what you like and fokus on it. just make sure you check out affinitys beforehand otherwise you can mess this one up permanetly.
