I would say well into expert, given that you have potions for health and fire protection. I never tried to take him face to face. In Skyrim doing that was easy with dragons but this one will hurt you. I was able to take him by running around the building he was on while blasting him with arrows. Took a few hours.

can be done as low as lvl 5. its simply a question of gear and some perks mostly. given you can obtain highend weapons at lvl 2-3 without much trouble if you know where to find them thats not really all that hard. so its more a question of gear rather than level itself. as levels itself dont raise your power all that much in this mod. its the perks and the gear mostly.

the dragons loot is rather weak aswell sadly.

but there is also wild myrads^^

Im not sure what dragon you are fighting at lv 5. I dont even think you can get past that wizards tower with those elementals at lv 5 thats before it. That dragon can one shot you for 300+ damage with its fire.

you can get past it. i played this before and i did a playtrough where i cheesed as hard as i was allowed too legitly without useing cheats or mods. and item balance was not changed much.

its simply a matter of strategy. you cannot button mash your way trough it of course. wont work.

but trust me that dragon is not really that strong as its not even in a highend area.

check high level areas. the northern snow mountains are the games highest level region is all i will say to that. the desert also has some very high level enemies aswell as the goldenforest. basically rthe farher away from the center of the map you go the stronger the enemies will get in this mod on average. (except the edges around riverville of course) there is also talgard region but that place is super hard to cheese at low level.

for example greatswords can reach over 50 damage really early on without leveling the skill much. i prefer shield/sword as the extra enchant slot is just too useful in this mod to pass up.

for example some enemies simply shouldnt be fought in melee range. while others are stupidly easy once you can melee them (mages fall like flys if you can get close even highend ones) but dont try to melee enemies like the lord or lady of the lost ones. even with full highend heavy setarmor theyll flat out 1-2 shot you in melee even on normal difficulty.

granted these enemies are rather rare overall.

you cant even get to the desert at lv 5. 3 mobs on novice and your toast.

you can. stop thinking in straight lines dude. also you dont have to walk all the way into the desert either. like i said : if you try to button mash your way trough you WILL fail.

i never said its easy either. but its definitly possible. just like the old gothic games. these teached you how to approach an enemy complety out of your level range. same methods work here.

alot of highend items dont require killing anything in order to obtain for example. or just to kill 1 specific enemy. not all highend items are found inside dungeons either. explore.

remember you could also get goldbrand or the dragonbone cuirass in morrowind at lvl 1 aswell. its very similar here for some items :)

great game philosophy but far from a real experience Its easy to tell someone it can be done, but in theory it has never been tried. The truth is, at level 5 it cant be done. Any high end gear or skill you get most come first and that takes some work, money and leveling.

false and proves me you never played this mod before. this is not a theory. i DID that myself what you claim impossible here. its simply a matter of knowledge of where to go and what to look for.

none of that gear requires money or leveling at all if you know where it is. its as simple as that. thats the beauty of non leveled world and handplaced loot.

getting deathstorm requires killing 1 single strong enemy which has no ranged attacks at all. getting an aeterna longsword of fire requires no killing AT ALL. same for a skaragg set chestpiece and other items. you assume its impossible but it isnt. the options are there. they where placed in the world in certain areas for a reason.

now this is way harder to pull off if youre playing for the first time and dont want spoilers but that doesnt mean its not possible at all.

Well... The dragon isn't even quest related I think.
It's just a monster to be found. ;)

yes, i never played the game, even though im the top reviewer for it. Skill points require leveling, aka leveling, and money is needed to buy the books needed for to put your points in. There is no way to beat the dragon on lv 5 unless you glitch it into the wall of the structure. It dont matter what 2 hander or what armor you have you have at lv 5, if the dragon hits you, you will die. Keep dreaming.......What you are telling the poster here cant be done.

beeing a reviewer doesnt mean youre a good player dude. if youre the type of player that beats dark souls at level 1 you can do this here aswell.

skill points. yeah. that alone shows me how little clue you have on the subject. skillpoints which require money to even use do barely have any impact in this mod. the difference between 20 one handed and 100 one handed is quite honestly a joke. perks and enchantments and sets and weapons base have a far bigger impact on your dmg than these.

what i am telling the poster CAN be done. just because YOU cannot do it doesnt mean its not possible.

yes the dragon does alot of damage. but its melee attacks wont oneshot you with decent armor (which doesnt require leveling to get at all) and its attacks are slow and can be avoided alltogether aswell. like i said that dragon isnt even that strong. a frostqueen spider is much more dangerous than this thing due to the instant ranged posion attack. a lord/lady of the lost ones is much more dangerous at close range aswell. yet they can all be killed if you have patience and use the right tactics without leveling much at all.

High sneak and marksman...but probably NOT expert. I didnt use any health potions or spells - just used cover and slow movement until he pretty much placed himself in a position where i could damage him well, and he couldnt damage me (remaining iin the SMALL arched area (NOT the WIDE OPEN arched area) DIRECTLY below and slightly to the side of where he was slumbering is the best position- but you will have to make calculated 'micro' moves to avoid incidental/collateral flame breath damage). Took about 10-15 shots with a bow, the I raced out to where he finally landed (into the first and only flame breath straight into my face), and shot again for 2-3 more times. Invisibility potions might also help with this...
