Do I need the old skyrim to run this?

Pretty much what the title says. Do I have to install the old skyrim or will it work with the special edition?

You don't have to install anything in order to play Enderal, all you need is the ownership of the original Skyrim or "'Oldrim" as they call it. It will not work with the Special Edition

You do need old Skyrim, but you merely need to own it. It does not need to be installed.

This should be added to the FAQ and store page, that the mod is standalone.

It IS on the FAQ though...

First and foremost you will need a legal copy of Skyrim Classic or Skyrim Legendary Edition in Steam (no official DLCs needed).
It doesn't need to be installed, it's enough to own it.
Now simply download Enderal via Steam and launch it and you are ready to go!

To put it another way, if Skyrim shows in your list of Steam games, even if it's not currently installed on your computer, you can install and play Enderal

I don't see original or LE skyrim available on Steam anymore... just SE and VR. That might be something to address in the FAQ.
