Most of those types of balance issues are solved in the Enderal Gameplay Overhaul, but it also makes the game harder so it's not for everyone.
Summon ancestor is a higher level than many of the enemies around Three River Watch, the contents of chests is random so that sort of stuff happens sometimes. As you progress into higher level areas Summon Ancestor will drop off. Mages in general are pretty well known for trivialising fights since magic is so strong in Enderal, so its pretty likely that your battlemage build will start to feel overpowered by itself given time.
It's not that summon ancestor is too strong, more the case that you probably shouldn't have it yet and like many of the spells in Enderal it doesn't cost as much as it should.
