but there will be a big warning before you enter the last part of the main quest.
Before the final mission starts the game warns you that you are at the point of no return and should do all side content and such you still want to do.
For story reasons its impossible to continue after the main story ends.
GIANT END OF GAME SPOILERS ( if you want to know why)
Because either you are dead or the world is destroyed
But what if i've been dead the entire time?
The main quest in Skyrim is supposed to be urgent and dire.
This is a matter of personal choice. You can choose to complete the game or not. Same with Skyrim. Most people end up distracted either way.
Nehrim may seem longer because it is actually 2 main quests. There is the original main quest, and then, much later, a large patch was released which finished up many of the previously unfinished quests, and it added a new main quest. So that patch was pretty much like a DLC it had so much in it. Also, Nerhim might seem longer because there are such limited fast travel options (the few teleportals), so you spend a lot more time just travelling over the same roads over and over again, as opposed to Enderal where you can zip to many locations with scrolls.
