Comparing opinions... (Spoilers at the end)
So... I just finished my third playthough and I thought it was about time I share my opinion/experience with the game and maybe even some things I would have done differently.
I would love to hear your opinions and experiences.
Like:
What ending did you choose?
Did you do a romance palythrough?
Would you have done something differently?

Before I start, I just want to point out that I am german so my english is not perfect but it should be more then enough. By the way I played the English and the German version.

So lets get started with talk about me and why I think this text might interest you.
I have been playing games for a long time now. I grew up with them to be exact. It all started with a Nintendo then a phone and then eventually a computer.

Like a lot of kids that were born in the 2000´s I started with games like minecraft and The Sims 3. I really had a thing going for games were I could choose who I am or want to become. I basically wanted to have the engine of a certain game but I wanted to play it my way. Not long after I got my Computer I got into RPG´s which means Roleplaygame (Rollenspiel). One of the first RPG´s I ever played was "The Divinity II Ego Draconis". The game fascinated me in every aspect then there was "Thief" and eventually I found "The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim". A true gem to be said at least.
I got it in 2011 and I play it to this very day. Now here comes the interesting part.
I first heard of Enderal in 2017 but I thought it was not worth to bother with... It is a community made DLC how good could it be? Oh boy was I wrong.

I installed the game in December 2017 (I was kind of late to hop on that train, I admit it). The first time I played it was the English version that I used. I started during the Christmas Holidays which made it the perfect time to play. On my playthrough I focused on only the mainquest and oh boy it took me three days to finish the games... considering that I started to play at 10am and played until 4am the next day. Keeping it short I played a lot and it still took me 3 full days... Impressive.

(From this point on there will be spoilers | And trust me by that I mean if you have not finished Enderal yet... STOP READING!!!!!!)

I was hooked from the very beginning. I´m talking about the cutscene which tells you about the past two years you know? I loved everything. The Voice acting was on point. The graphic design was stunning. The story it told was mesmerizing. Everything was perfect. Suddenly the game just grabs you and what? Throws you in some weird family drama? Or no was it crossing the border illegally? Or did you cross the bord legally but traveled illegally? Interesting approach... The character creation wasn´t anything special but it was nice to learn some backstory on the four races there are. Talking about races I just want to say that I was positively suprised when I learned that there was racism in the game. Like what? Thats amazing! I have never played a game which embodied the word "Immersion" more than Enderal.

And then there is the landscape. The very moment I woke up on shore I was amazed by the level design and then after you leave the temple and first set eyes on the "Sun Coast" you forget that you are sitting at a desk. Then your first actual conversation with the "Apothecarii"
(I think that´s it)
You will realize how good the voice acting truly is... Keeping it short... It is amazing. During my playthough I started speeking my parts out loud because it felt like an actual conversation! It was impressive and unforgetteble!

There are four more things I want to talk about:
~Dungeons and "Set-Items"
~The Quests
~The Character writing
~A certainquest (Ya know)
~Another certain quest (Ultimate Spoiler Alert)

So lets start. During my time I was wandering around Enderals amazing landscape, which reaches from dusty deserts ( The Powder Desert ) to Icecold Mountains ( Frostcliff Mountains),
I came across my fare share of dungeons but the most impressive one is the "Gravespath" in "Goldenforst".

At the entrance we find a note of an "Apothecarii" who set out to find a cure
for the "Red Madness". As you fight your way past armies of undead you come along some more of those notes. Seven to be exact. They tell you , out of the "Apothecarii´s" perspective ,
how over the course of a week the man suddenly starts to see things. He suddenly hears strange noises and by note four you will have noticed... He has gone half-crazy. The reason why I say "half-crazy" is because you were able to READ how he was struggling with himself and the ruin. At the end you find his bodys with his full journal telling you about the 15 Days before he came to the "Gravespath". The last Journal overall is a little boring but as soon as you get to the end your pulse will skyrocket. There is a recipe with four ingredients. I was going mad at that point I tried so hard to put that potion, that cure together that i forget that one of the four ingredients the "Fire Palm Extract"... doesnt even exist in the game :steamfacepalm:

Talking about Set-Items... GENIUS every player loves to be rewared with a unique and special weapon at the and of a quest or dungeon. And their design, look and echantments REALLY make them "unique". Really smart Sureai.

The side quests in my opinion really weren´t crazyly good but they were perfectly fine.
The same thing cannot be said for the Mainquest... It was much better than everything I have ever seen. Skyrim tells you to kill all dragons... great... exciting...:steambored:
But Enderal... only close to the end you will understand what actually is your mission. The lore behind everything was just so well written it was juts next level compared to all the games that came out in 2016. The story really pulls you inside of the game like nothing you have ever seen before. Everything you say has an impact on the story and you really start thinking about everything twice before saying it. Just Impresssive.

The Characters Oh boy... You have to find it out for yourself. It was amazing the characters , focusing on Calia Sakaresh and Jaspur Dal´Varek , really felt like humans and not like Ai´s. You really start careing about them and I want to say something special... The most fun in the game I had when I was talking to someone. Yes , The Dialogues were better then everything else. And the fact that you were able to have romances? What that´s crazy? It was a blast to play this game!

Here I want to talk about the Quest "A Song in the Silence"
The Quest was heartbreaking you meet a child who was born deformed and was given away by his own farther. His life then gets so much better because of a magic stone... Problem is you need that stone. Time passes and you get to like the child (coming from someone who hates children). And now he wants you to stay. Of course you cant... Because. But when he tells you why he wants you to stay you might be breaking out in tears. If you take the stone his entire world will collapse and all his friends havent eaten in years. Because the stone gives people the power to change the reallity the kid wanted to have a childhood but by doing that while having the stone he pretty much sentenced everyone to death. Keeping it short. You take the stone, the village is dead, the poor child dies in your arms.

And here we go I am about to shut up yesss.
I wanted to talk about a certain quest for a certain reason... I want to talk about "Fleshless" and the NPC "The Black Guardian". Its the second last quest before you sadly finish the game. And it is amazing the twist was like someone throwing a brick in your face it hit you like a train out of nowhere... He basically tells you , you are nothing special, you cant change anything, you failed, you did what they wanted you to do, you are a puppet and on and on it goes. Here You realize that the story is not actually about you but something way bigger unlike in Skyrim where you are the Dragonborn a Hero a Legend a Savior. And in Enderal you... Are just a Tool of your biggest enemies? " There have been thousands of you and there will be thousands more". You simply arent anything special. Period.

Overall I would consider the game perfect. You have a few translating mistakes here and there and at some places the navmesh isn´t perfect so the NPC´s will just run against a tree or something. But there was nothing minor that I found in my three playthrough. The game tends to crash quite often but hey... There is F5 you know?

The reason many people write bad things about Enderal is because they compare it to Skyrim... Remember this guys "ENDERAL IS NOT SYRIM BUT A GAME OF ITS OWN".

10/10 Must try... no jokes aside go play it!

Peace out! :windhelm::windhelm:

The philosophical story of Enderal is definitely one of the absolute highlights of video game history. The script partly moves on world literature level.

I'm an Enderal player of the first hour and already had Nehrim through when Enderal was finally released.
Both games weren't technically perfect and the quality and content of the dungeons/regions has fluctuated a lot. However, the games simply radiated soul and character.

SPOILER *** ***

My end was self-sacrifice. I think the game made it pretty clear that escaping to the Star City was basically just the old man's way. And he couldn't break the cycle either.
In principle, you had the choice whether you believed in humanity or not and wanted to make a clean cut.

There hadn't been a romance with me. I must have transported Calia to the Friend Zone at some point. But with Forgotten Stories I will start my 2nd run and fix it as a gay with Jespar :-)
