Regardless - As the owner of both a mac and a PC I don't recommend going this rout to play the game at all. RTS is one of the few genres that actually throw modern games at MacOS and you shouldn't have to compromise to get that kind of gameplay, especially with Starcraft 2 being essentially free at this point. Mac users need to stop bending over and putting in extra work to play games, that just further reduces the monetary incentive for devs to make games mac native. Maybe try Total War Warhammer 2 - Feral did amazing with that.
On the windows side of things, the game isn't exactly perfect either. Running a Ryzen5 3600 and Radeon RX 5700, the game occasionally fails to load in textures for certain types of terrain, leaving the ground jet back with trees and such appearing to hover over an empty void. The game requires WAY more horsepower than its visual output suggests - Minor skirmishes in AoE3DE have sent my GPU fans at full speed trying to keep up, while it handles 40 unit vs 40 unit (Thousands of models) battles in Warhammer 2 with ease - And Warhammer 2 looks WAY more visually stunning than AoE3DE. The artstyle was made to look good in closeups, and isnt especially readable from a long distance like you want in an RTS, so you WILL probably be playing the game with certain settings turned down or off anyways.. I imagine all of those problems would be 100x worse if you were to try playing on a Mac.
Yet because of ARM not much Mac ports will ever see the light of day anytime soon, I guess. It's a shame.
yours is a nonsense speech .. if I make 100 cannons and my opponent only makes 10 it means that my opponent was not good enough at producing resources and making more cannons ... I firmly believe that this thing should be added ... of course this does not have to be shared by all the players .. we let you choose before each game if you want to play 200 or 300 or 500 population .. the choice must be there .. I am already genuinely tired to play with it .. after 4 games I realized the limitations of this game and I try to bring them .. then the developers can do whatever they like .. meanwhile the game remains on steam and I don't play it, naturally with a nice negative review .
"it's easy to play AOE3 on a mac! Just install windows!"
Any advice on fixing this issue would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
