So it got the Awesomenauts treatment, making the base game free and releasing the full content as paid DLC. Will old-time players get some skins or other cosmetics as compensation? As much as I like AoE 3's devs, the owner is still Microsoft, so I'm not holding my breath...

They will need to have better skins to unlock as an incentive to get people to play the game more.

I preferred the old events, we went a long time without any and this is the answer? Are there no patch notes?

Between the minecraft event, releasing the SECOND definitive edition of Age of Empires 1 and this, the developers have really lost their touch.

Sounds like a good way of adding a demo version.

Honestly, AOE3 Is the best strategy game Ive ever played, Im glad people have a chance to try it out for free.
I only hope it wont affect people who owned this game before update

wdym "compensation", why would you be compensated for buying a game earlier and still retaining the content you paid for?

Hay I would be OK with giving a skin to old time players. But it is not needed. And newer players should have as way to get it to somehow even if they need to put in some effort of some kind. Really hate punishing people who got on the ship later. Since many times it was not there fault.

also what happening to the 2 hero dlcs? are they unlocked automatically now?

Currently cant play with my friends due to there is no update for xbox

I cannot play the game after the update...Because I purchased the full game including dlc in another account and used family share function to play in this account. Now it is free and every account owns the game. So the main game (which is considered as dlc now) and all dlcs doesn't work for me any more.

Now this is a good marketing strategy. I highly approve. Imagine doing something as dim-witted as a minecraft event if you can do something inspired like this.
I applaud you devs.

Just some Ideas of what will be fun to see in the future.
