um, guys, Mexico's Soldado is completely overpowered. In what universe is it okay to make a ranged infantry unit with 450 health at level 1, which can upgrade to have a siege attack that levels buildings in a few hits AND becomes an AOE attack on other units??

Ah yes, continuing the tradition of making new civs horrifically overpowered, I see

i dont realy understand why mexico implemented now... all can read that tenochtitlan from aztec is on same place like mexico...
AOE3 was colony age meaning. mexicans never meet aztec..
same with the american addon...
you could add aegypt, atlantis and an alien mars country and 1940 germans reich too -.-

by the time skip i think it would needed a VI time age
maybe aegyptians build then glas pyramides <3 with sun collectors

I was going to say that you could already rebel into mexico and the us XD.

I agree that they should have added like... Venice/Genoa/Pisa (or any Italian power), Norway, Denmark, Austria (instead of "Germany"), Prussia (instead of "Germany"), or even some other non-colonial powers like Hungary, Bohemia, Iran (Persia), Greece, etc. instead of the USA and the UMS.

I even wish that they added more playable first-nations like the Cree people, Ojibwe people, Cherokee people, Mi'kmaq people, Inuit people, etc. Especially considering their new agenda to make the game more "PC".

They do it to make people buy the DLC for competitive modes, then nerf them a few weeks later. Every company does this now XD

Honestly, it's pretty smart, and I don't mean it in a manipulative way. You wouldn't want to release weak. If you release strong the playerbase will tell you the ways they're too powerful to play against. If you release weak or even close to balanced, the only people reporting the problems with the new civ will be those playing it (not playing against them).

I'm not watching an hour long video when you didn't even say what your point was for linking that video.

However, what I stated was a generalization. I'm not saying AoE 3 is doing a good job balancing. I'm saying it makes sense for developers in general to release strong civs, characters, classes, or whatever it may be, and then balance after the feedback. I'm not saying they're doing a good job doing that (I'm not the expert for that call by any means).

I forgot my message lmao, my bad, it's quite simple, Interjection (one of the current devs of aoe3) asks a few questions and when talking about new civs the answer is simple, make them underpowered and work from there. US sold pretty well and they weren't op at launch. It is one of the eariler questions too so you don't have to sit an hour to get to that point in the video.
Also it's clear Interjection absolutely ignored what was talked in this video but that's besides the point, also prob giving him too much credit/responsability.

Honest question - why is content still being released for this game now that AoE IV has been released?

Microsoft has multiple cash cows in their herd, so why not? AoE II and III DLC are profitable for them so they might as well.

Besides, IV and III have different development teams entirely. Only the publisher is the same. There are many players loyal to II or III that won't make the switch to IV, switch back and forth, or will only dabble in IV while playing their favorite. And there are players that want to play them all.

So it makes sense for MS to keep publishing content. They know many of the players want more AoE, and not just in IV.

You don't need the DLC for the event to be enabled. You need to login to XBox Live.
