Considering they have a much larger part in the colonial period with the US Virgin islands, port cities in India, and "totally" super tiny island of GREENLAND that everyone has forgotten.

I can understand Italy being added since they were suppose to be in the game since it first came out but got cut, but Malta? Come on! Lazy attempt of putting Morgan Black campaign units in the main game.

Despite I like the new addition, I agree. I mean, probably Malta should have been implemented as "European Natives" and / or with new mercenary units. But the fact that developers still adding new civs (some of them even very unexpected like Mexico or Malta) makes me think positively about other remarkable European Nations from that period of time (Denmark, Poland, Austria-Hungary) being added eventually. I really hope this will happen

You see somalians and such take priority first because they are more important than any european they are a fabolous pirate kingdom with boats afterall.

For now, it doesn't seem that is gonna be like that, but I guess AoE III DE might take a similar direction like AOE II DE: splitting already existing civs into another more specific and accurate ones (Would this be a right decision? I don't know). Example: Germans. They could be separated into Prussia, Austria-Hungary and the Holy Roman Empire. Right now Germans in game are a little bit weird mix between all of them.

It's not about colonialism- it's the fact that between 1500-1700, Poland-Lithuania was a behemoth on the European continent. If the game is finally going to be a proper Age of Empires rather than focusing on Colonialism- Poland is a shoe in.

I know for example, I want Poland, Kongo, Persia, Brazil and Siam, for the last few civs for this game, as they are the best fits for the era and theme.

As Cao Cao Mengde said, they were a prominent player for the timeline and the game already lost the "colonial-only" theme but I still think both are the only European civs missing for now...I won't mind if next expansion would be anywhere else as I'm open for all.
