You gain 3 civs in rotation,
only a small part of the map pool,(8)
only a part of the campaign, (the first act)
cannot play ranked gamemode (quick search), only casual
Art of war challenges are on both verisons available (as it acts as tutorial)
access to one historical battle

Base game:
access to a large part of maps (further maps are locked behind the Knights of the mediterranean DLC & African Royals, which add european & african maps respectively)
access to all basegame civilizations (India, China, Japan, Aztec, Inca, Haudenosaunee, Lakota, Portugese, Sweden, Ottoman, Britian ( England ), Dutch, French, Germans (prussia), Russia, Spain
Can play ranked (quicksearch
Access to the entirety of the campaign
access to more historical battles
-further historical battles are unlocked via DLC

Sooo, I paid for the game years ago. Had all base civs and maps. Didn't buy any DLC tough. And now I am forced to buy a game again hahah. Is this really a feature. Or is it some kind of mistake. Because if this is intended then that's super lame maan.

If you purchased 3 DE before the recent update you should get the DLC that unlocks the full version for free
