The history depicted in AoE III more or less started *because* of the fall of the Byzantines empire.
Maybe they could be in a History Battle with the rise of the Ottomans.

no, we have other factions to add, while some factions are early or based on early things like aztec the byzantines are firmly too early.

You're better off suggesting this as a civ for Age of Empires 4. The Byzantine Empire is pretty much dead at the start of AoE3. The timeline of this game sits between 1500 to the year 1880~

Yeah. Would make for a good Historical battle but no more.

It IS a little out of timeline, and even the fall of one of its successor states, the Empire of Trebizond is pushing it. But would be an interesting Historical Battle.

Byzantines are not in the time period of the game but I would like to see them in historical battle "The fall of Constantinople" playing with the ottomans and their great cannons against the city great walls or defending the city against the ottomans.

seems we are getting the maltese and they made them like the byzantines would be....greek fire ships and flamethrowers etc
This game isn't even historically accurate it is all over the place with some being stuck in the year 1500 and others in 1700 so why not go back a couple hundred years and get the Byzantines in? Guess that doesn't fit the agenda, but aboriginals can timetravel just fine.
