ah , This game really is hard for me. i give up .
I just lost like 4 games in a row today, and it leaves a bad taste, but it's a game after all and you can just shut down the pc, or play another games for a while until you feel like playing again.
All in all, no matter what game you play just remember is a game and you are supposed to have fun.
pengyou <3 it's free and more casual
I agree. I only play against the AI. And if I'm playing as, say, the Russians, and am new to them, I'll set the difficulty to easy just to see how they operate. Offensive and defensive strengths and weaknesses. How well the economy works. The AI? It seems to get a bit better with every update. My game, my pace, my fun!
Tried AoE4 but I don't like its hotkeys. I might wait for Elden Ring and switch to CoH3 later.

The issue with AoE2 is that you can commit like 20 minutes of your time on a bad build order, and then find out on minute 21 that you will lose. It's a fantastic game but it takes way more patience to master. AoE3 seems a bit more micro intensive however, specially how on top of your vills you have to be regarding herding hunts. I like playing AI on AoE2, for me it's pretty challenging, and playing the campaigns on the new coop mode with a friend is a blast.
I haven't tried aoe4 yet as I can't make it run on linux. so I can't comment. It looks cool altough it seems it has it's fair share of criticism regarding balance.
I wish the AI would try different strats and build orders to be able to practice counters against popular build orders online.
That being said, sometimes just a plain FFA with 4 or 6 AI on very hard is super fun.
Another thing I like about this game is the sheer amount of civs and how different they are, I haven't even tried the USA and Mexico yet.
<rushboom>-1</rushboom> I changed that to: <rushboom>-0.2</rushboom>
Then I added a completely new line which was:
<offensedefense>-1.0</offensedefense>
Then save the akbar.personality file and play the game by setting India as your AI opponent.
You will find personality files for all the AI opponents and you can edit those too.
BE WARNED. If you stuff it up you will have to reinstall the game to get back to the old files. Although you could save all the original files to a new name as a backup? Nah. easier to reinstall.
If you do the above you will find India becomes very passive - unless you attack them or get too close - then they will swarm unless you've built up a really good attack force.
There are also dozens of other ways to affect the AI in much the same way (limiting artillery production, limiting gathering, etc. etc. You just have to look at the files and figure it out like I did. You can also use the same methods to make the AI much harder and much more aggressive if you like that sort of thing. Have fun :)
