Germany's Flag is the Austrian Flag

Okay so I'm not too happy that Germany is a combination of both Prussia and Austria. I think that was a lazy thing to do and both civs could easily be in the game. Did Austria colonize? Not as far as I know but they were a major world power at the time.

But if Berlin is Germany's home city then why does it have Austria's flag????? I thought we were all trying to be politically correct! Honestly just google Prussian flag and Austrian flag...takes 3 seconds. You had it correct in the OG, why the change now?

Berlin = Prussian City = Prussian Flag

Austria = East India Trading Company competing with the British East India Company in East Africa and South Asia. They had even managed to steal away the Dutch leader William Bolts of their consortium from the British. Habsburgs since Maria Theresa were colonists.

That it is the Habsburg flag is of course correct. Or a real mistake of a graphic artist...

Habsburg = black and yellow. Prussia = black and white

I found an information section on this topic on the Wikia page. Yes, the original and DE flags are different and they added the following note about it in a Trivia section:

• The German flag shown in the original game appears to be a combination of the State flag of the Kingdom of Prussia (1750–1801) and Imperial Banner of the Holy Roman Emperor (circa 1430–1806). It was changed to the Imperial standard of the Holy Roman Empire (from the 16th–19th) for the Definitive Edition.
  
• According to early screenshots prior to the release of Age of Empires III, the German flag in the game would be the Colonial flag used by the German Empire between 1884–1918.

Hmm, the german colonial flags were always with a crest. Above the black eagle with yellow background and below the crest. Lion head, elephant etc. So it would not be correct then either.

lol und was hat das jezt mit der flagge zu tuhn?
diverse games sind nur spiele versuchen aber einigermaßen korekt dargestellt zu werden`...und an einer flagge soll es ja wohl nich liegen^^

German flag = Holy roman empire, get your FACTS right.

That said, yea its a wrong and failed decision to not name it PRUSSIA wich would be more fitting for the setting. Other than that: Why cant i turn Imperial Germany as Germany? Add some flavor here! Oh and Japan is still called Yamato for no reason....

Well I will concede I was wrong on a few points. I'm still bummed they couldn't separate Germany into Austria and Prussia since both were independent nations at the time. Much like USA from Britain.

It would be cool if each Age up lets you branch off into a different section of your civ. So for Germany you could pick a path that leads to Austria or to Prussia and much like Britain turning into USA or Canada would be cool or just staying Britain.

The flag they use now doesn't match the Home City...in the wiki page the capitol city was either Vienna or Prague since that is the Habsburg Monarchy's flag.

While the Kingdom of Prussia had its capitol in Berlin.
