I can honestly say that (IMO) using aimed passing with the mouse is the most rewarding way to play.
That's a shame. I've been lurking this series for awhile and I thought this might be the time I pick it up, but if the passing controls are that complicated on controller (I play with someone who can't handle dual stick well), I may have to wait.
It's not as complicated as it sounds - especially on the keyboard/mouse. And the aimed passing system is just an option, you can simiply switch to using the traditional icon passing system if you'd like.
It's optional. Trust me, I wouldn't have a hope in Hell with this game if I had to use Aimed Passing with my X360 controller's R-Stick. Not using aimed passing though, does mean you can't lob or bullet pass - something I hope gets changed in a future update.
I agree. I am not a talented gamer at all, and could never use Madden's vision cone, nor do I have an interest in the aimed passing. I use the usual icon passing and things are fine (though I agree we need to be able to lob or bullet a pass)
I posted the suggestion to implement it the way Canadian Football 2017 (will be the same in Maximum Football 2018 PC) did, which is a quick button tap to perform a lob and a briefly held down button to deliver a bullet. It works fine in CF 2017, but it does take a few games to get adept with it. That game is built with the Unity gaming engine, which I've gotten the impression from things I've read is the same engine that Axis FB 18 uses - not a 100% about that though.
Maxium probably uses Unity 2018. Axis Football 18 was done in Unity 2017 which has a big difference in features and performance engine wise. Axis Football 2019 will be in Unity 2018, which according to the devs would be a big upgrade to the current game.
Oh that may very well be the case, but I'm certain that CF 2017 PC (Maximum FB 2017 by a different name) was created with Unity 2017 or an earlier edition of the engine. The lob and bullet passing for icon buttons are a feature of CF 2017 for PC. Maximum FB 2018 for PC has yet to be released - just the XBox One and PS4 editions.
Could have sworn I tried that and it didn't work. I guess I just didn't press the buttons down long enough. Good to know it's there as a feature and I'll adjust my gameplay accordingly.
Well I tried it, but it certainly doesn't work like the bullet pass I'm used to from CF 2017. In Axis it seems more like an overpowered pass or wild pass. More times then not, when I hold the icon buttoin down my QB just throws a pass that sails over the head of a the intended receiver. Even for close in routes, they're often throwing a bullet high.
I'm growing to dislike the passing in this game, as regular passes are intercepted with such frequency it's ridiculous. Running game is good though.
