Simmiland

Simmiland is a god-like civilization card game, like a lot of Sokpop games it is very minimalistic, definitely to it's own detriment. I want to like this game but it's core gameplay of you having very little influence on what your humans do leads to an endless cycle of them starving or ignoring items unless you play it exactly a certain way.

Gameplay

Playing cards has effects on your humans and the randomly generated world you play on, depending on how you play, your humans will get smarter and expand until you run out of cards and you must end the game. You can unlock more cards which do more things with the only real goal being the achievements. I wouldn't expect more than 4 hours out of this game, beyond that is just frustration.

Your control over your humans is limited, they do everything of their own accord, including but not limited to: Ignoring the items you want them to pick up, starving to death despite having sizeable farms, becoming religious and limiting their intelligence. The game lacks certain information that makes these things easier to deal with.

The Market, which makes food a non-issue, gets locked off from you if you don't discover things in a specific order. Without the Market your people will constantly starve. The Church will be built if you let enough faith be built up, this can happen by playing too fast or even playing too slow, The Church stops you being able to progress until you destroy it. You are just constantly min-maxing your stress levels unless you know exactly how to play, the one way that works, it takes away any fun the game could have had.

Achievements (27/27)

The achievements require multiple runs to get everything. You are at the mercy of rng as to whether your humans will even do the things you want them to do. It's frustrating to say the least.

Settings/Accessibility/Misc

Keyboard, mouse and Gamepad supported. Despite the steam page only showing English, the game supports 3 languages: English, Chinese and Spanish.

TL;DR

God-like card game city builder with a fun idea but lack of control leads to shallow gameplay loop. Frustrating gameplay decisions. Fair price for content. Multiple runs required for 100% achievements

The game mechanics is fun but it needs balance and less RNG.
It's frustrating you keep drawing card you don't want so you couldn't progress.

religion makes people dumb in this game

This is cool for the most, but it falls short on what matters most... gameplay. Each session is just like the previous, you can't really do anything different because there is only ONE way to do stuff in this game... So you are really stuck to play the same thing on slightly different masses of land.

I like the graphics, stuff is perceptible enough for you to know what is what. The sound is nothing to write home about, it's fairly enjoyable but after 15 minutes listening to it you do get fed up.

It lacks features, stuff to do, ways to better shape civilization. It is also bot very intuitive, you might struggle at first unless you go to the Guides and read about the game before you actually play it.

Not regretting getting the game, but not fully happy with it. It's too little with the capacity to be much more - but apparently devs are proud of spitting a game out every two weeks, so there is that... It feels half baked.

And no, you won't get all achievements in one run, so you do need to play the same game loop a couple of times to get them.

Get it on 50% off if you can, not much value on here other than the novelty (for me).

sigmiland

Fairly simple god game with some mild roguelite elements. The runs are (relatively) short and sweet. Worth playing just to see what everything does. I enjoyed.

Religion causes braindamage

A really simple, yet really cool concept. This game is super cute and doesn't overstay its welcome. All the mechanics are intuitive and it's fun to mess with your followers pocket god style. A great way to kill some time, overall a pretty solid experience from almost every angle. Just don't think it'll be a game I'll come back to very often, if at all. 7.5/10
