Quitting the Game without Ending the Run
TLDR: How do you quit the game without ending the run?

Okay, I know the game autosaves at certain points; it's good about displaying that. What I didn't know was that you can only properly quit at... some point that I'm not sure of yet. I thought possibly 'Give Up' saved the game because that was the only option whenever I checked the menu: in the dungeon, in Yokai Village (which seems like a place where you should be able to manually save and quit), and when I entered a new level. I was about three hours in and getting tired; so I figured 'what the heck, I'm probably just being an idiot; that has to be how you quit'.

So I reached the next floor, the game saved, and I clicked 'Give Up'. And yes, I did see the warnings, but I was making assumptions based on past games I've played that, you know, would take more than an hour to finish a run.

Thankfully, I only lost nine floors, but that's the last time I trust my instincts over checking the forums.

...Which I did afterwards, but no one asked this question. Well, people did, but the best result I found was 'close it with the task manager'. From the guy who was asking the question and knew they weren't doing it right.

So, yeah, how do you quit the game without ending the run?

The in-game method is to find the magic circle and use the "suspend" option. It will save and send you to the title, when you return you start on the next floor.

The other method is like you mentioned to just alt-F4 since the game auto saves at the start of every floor anyway.

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks!

To be fair, people did, and it was answered, just a few days ago ( https://steamcommunity.com/app/931500/discussions/0/2626094171913564060/ ). Of course, it's mixed in with other questions and difficult to find if you don't guess the exact keywords used... :winter2019happydog:

Yeah, I completely missed that one. Didn't think I'd find an answer under an 'is this game worth purchasing' question.
