How to proceed with the game?
I think there's something I'm not quite "getting" about the game, I think, since it feels like I've hit a wall.

I'm currently at the second and third areas, with elite ghouls being the current main quest. My main party are both level 8. Everything was going swimmingly up to this part, but the enemies are all around level 22-24 now and some of them even one-shots my party with their skills. It's getting harder and harder to finish an adventure. What exactly are you supposed to do to combat this?

Every piece of gear I can make is either just a strange sidegrade to my current equipment (is there a reason why I'd want to swap to gear that lowers both my defense and attack?), or way higher level than I can currently equip. Buying new recipes is frustrating because I have to grind tons of materials just to afford one, vs the same enemies I'm having trouble with.

And what of the "swag" part of things? I've just generally ignored it, since making an effort to win the competitions would require a huge assortment of gear to swap around based on the judges, but are you supposed to focus more on this part of the game?

What am I supposed to do here?

It can roll as either a caster, agility or strength user's item and it has the additional bonus of giving your entire party nature damage upwards to 75 each (I think it is 75, it might be 50.) and enjoy the faster slaughter fests. You would also benefit from making black tooth medallions for people in the front lines.

Yeah, same situation, same question.

I'm there too. Too much grind and RNG for too little reward.
I'd probably refund at that point if I was under 2 hours.

I have three characters and currently, I'm trying to grind for better equipment before tackling the 3rd boss. I don't see the appeal of boosting the village (or rather, the game hasn't explained it very well).

im in the same position atm. i'm just grinding what i can and craft stuff to sell so i can train and lvl up my guys. but it feels odd that some of the gear stats are so random.

I had this weird moment where i couldn't get enough herbs to make the health potions... every time i collected 2, my heros ended up using a health potion thus netting me 0 potions gained. Fortunately i ended up just making a bunch of cheap loot selling said loot and then buying hero levels until i could one shot everything and grind for more health potions so that i could then grind in more challenging areas.

This is definitely a game you play in the background while you listen to music, podcasts, etc. a grind fiesta/cookie clicker.

I'm at the next 3 areas and what I did was make a 2nd party and spam the 1st area with it to craft and sell junk (and gather herbs for potions). In the meantime I spammed the 2nd area with my main party.

The third area is a bit nastier when you first reach it. Elite Parasite have an AOE spell that oneshots your entire party (not sure how that works as it does more dmg than it says, maybe it has an execute element). There's a necklace you can get later on (Black Tooth) that gives 1 revive per adventure that helps a bit with that. If you surrender when you see an Elite Parasite you might be able to farm it more undergeared idk. It's rng so they don't always use it, but sometimes they can do it twice and a row.. xD

Eventually I got my guys up to speed (mostly thanks to gold) and was able to run the 3rd area with my main party and the 2nd with my secondary which not only gives me much more gold but also better gear upgrades.

The next 3 areas are even nastier, I had to spam surrender just to get some logs to upgrade my guild. But now thanks to that I have 3 stables and 3 man parties unlocked...

P.S. I'm not sure if areas get harder as you progress the bar, but you can spam surrender a bit to lower it if that's a problem. Will eat up stamina and need refresh at the spa.

Elite Parasites are pretty busted aye... other than that I actually found the 3rd area easier than the 2nd... enemies seemed to have lower health for the most part.

I suspect monster getting stronger as you level up and gear your heroes. It's like they all were lvl 6-8 when i just entered area 2, then i upgraded main hero 4 times and suddenly monsters became 2 times more healthy and hitting really hard (sometimes one-shotting me).

Battlefield.

Well, I dunno as of 2019 but now the Master's Cap doesn't give party nature damage bonus, and I'm at the same wall atm and can't do ♥♥♥♥.
It'd be ironic if devs nerfed the item (if it really did give that buff in the 1st place) for players to suffer at this particular spot.
