I agree and i actually got the game initially on EGS. Was disappointment in the launch state and many other issues but devs stuck to it through the back lash and imo ended up with a very fun Action RPG looter. Imo if the game was not pushed rushed to be a ps5 launch game it would have been a lot more polished and better received.
There was talk they were working on another project (a looter shooter I believe) and if they take what they learned from this they can definitely make something great.
They just need to keep the build depth, gear grind, fun/satisfying combat, improve on the story/world side of things and they will have something special. I hope they are still working on their next project.
Yeah, I think that this game is just wasted potential. I like the combat and progression system, but it's shallow, boring and its repetitiveness is beyond insanity. The game is accounted as "action-RPG", but it's just a looter-hack'n'slash.
You know isometric ARPGs (like diablo) are also called hack and slash games right? The 2 are practically interchangeable as far as genres and titles go. As far as the "boring and its repetitiveness is beyond insanity" comment, that can literally be applied to 99% ARPGs, because the point of them is the power/loot chase and the grind. I agree the story component is barren (the worst part) but if you focus on endgame and just building up your character to get as powerful as possible its just as fun as any other ARPG or looter on the market. Its the combat feel, animations, character builds that really keep people playing and grinding for loot.
I would not say its wasted potential, but I would say if this game was not forced by sony to be a PS5 exclusive it would have ended up much better out the gate. Its always the publishers that rush development and force devs to meet unreasonable expectations.
Either way I feel the devs have proven themselves so if they are still working on their other looter shooter I'm looking forward to it.
