Suggested Gear in cockpit view?

Is it only the non-cockpit views that have the suggested gear showing? Or am i missing something obvious

Nothing in cockpit as you have the rev counter on the wheel. Lap times, lap delta, position is all shown in cockpit so no HUD is needed.

If struggling with gears for corners either practice (soon becomes easy for all tracks then) or run some laps in T-cam so the gears are displayed and move back to cockpit once you know what gear is recommended.

Prob obvious but practice is always going to be far better than using what the game recommends.
