Join during Qualifying

How do people join during qualifying and still manage to start the race?

Everytime I join, the race starts without me. Yet so many times I am in a lobby of 14 people then when race starts there are 22.

Any tricks?

i don't know how is that possible
but if you join during qualifying you should start race
unless you press button for spectating
or cars already finished qualifying

Your probably not hitting "A" to start the race when prompted after quali has ended? My only thought. I'm not MP veteran but the handful of times I've played now, when joining during a Qualifier, I was able to pick a car setup and race after it concluded.

Sorry guys but I still don't get it.

Right now there is a 25% race at qualifying.

I join lobby, I press ready, it brings me to the qualifying session where I am spectating other cars and have no other option to join the race.

By the time they are finished, the race starts without me.

There is no other button but "ready" when you enter the race, you have no other option but spectate other cars and when the qualifying is finished you see the standings, lap times and then they all load the race without me.

I enter another lobby now, all cars are currently in qualy, 0 options available to join the race but to spectate.
