Multiplayer with Microsft Store buyers

is it possible to play in a multplayer race with a friend that bought f1 2019 on the microsft store?

It looks like steam pc vs microsoft pc is not compatible. When you start it from the MS store (gamepass) you see different, and fewer, lobbies on unranked.

That just adds the steam UI to your game. It does not change the servers used...

And last time I did that Windows freaked out and said nah bra. no more games for you, stop messing with my settings.
